FTR #1008 Alfa Males, Part 5: Lee Harvey Manafort, The Russia-Gate Psy-Op, and the Underground Reich (Habsburg Redux, Part 2)

Manafort   — Dave Emory: Far from being a “Russian/Putin/Kremlin agent, Paul Manafort is a U.S. intelligence officer, who was charged with the task of teasing Ukraine from the Russian into the Western orbit. Heeding polls that found Ukraine’s citizens to oppose the country’s inclusion into NATO and midwiving a report that exonerated then Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich of criminal excess in the jailing of his predecessor and rival Yulia Timoshenko, Manafort undertook political activism on behalf of both causes in order to effect his goal of Westernizing Ukraine.

— When the combination of popular dissatisfaction with the austerity-laden EU association proposal and Russian pressure led to Yanukovych’s cancellation of the deepening of Ukrainian/EU relations, the Euromaidan coup sealed the fate of the Yanukovych government. “Plan B” for the integration of Ukraine into the Western camp was the Euromaidan coup, which culminated in the sniper killings of numerous civilians. As discussed in FTR #‘s 982 and 993, those sniper attacks may well have been a provocation, effected by Ukrainian fascist and OUN/B successor Andriy Parubiy christened “The Captain of the Maidan” and very possibly, Manafort himself.

— Plan B, for  the maneuvering of Ukraine into the Western camp might be termed “Plan OUN/B.”

Manafort, like Lee Harvey Oswald and Edwin Wilson before him ...has been “left out in the cold” by his spymasters, left to take the fall for an operation he undertook on their behalf. Hence, our christening of Trump’s former, unfortunate campaign manager as “Lee Harvey Manafort.”

— In addition to the Habsburg power political forces, our analysis focuses on the tiny, Habsburg-affiliated European principality of Liechtenstein. With a population of just 32.000, Liechtenstein is a vertically-integrated lean, mean money-laundering machine.

Overlapping the Liechtenstein connection is the Alfa Group ...a Russian conglomerate, the most important component of which is the Alfa Bank.

— For purposes of clarity, we present synoptic analysis of key points of discussion and analysis in FTR # 1007 and related programs.

The Alfa conglomerate maintains the Alfa Fellowship program, a subsidiary of the Carl Duisberg Society’s new umbrella the Cultural Vistas organization.

The Carl Duisberg Society was the vehicle that shepherded 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta around Germany and the U.S. Alfa subsidiary Crown Alfa had dealings with commodities trader Marc Rich, whose pardon was investigated by James Comey.

— In FTR #930, we noted that another Alfa associate Mikhail Fridman did purchase Marc Rich assets.

— Also in FTR #930, we noted an Alfa Bank server communicating with the Trump organization.

— In 2001, Crown Alfa associate Norbert Seeger’s Progressive Citizens Party of Liechtenstein gave Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein unprecedented power, making him, in effect, Europe’s only absolute monarch. Hans-Adam’s new powers gave him control over the courts and judicial system just as the 9/11 attacks and resulting Operation Green Quest investigations were moving in the direction of the Lichtenstein-based Al-Taqwa nexus.

— An Al-Taqwa subsidiary, the Asat Trust had links to the House of Liechtenstein–the ruling family of Liechtenstein.

Robert Mueller helped derail the Operation Green Quest investigation while serving as head of the FBI .

— The House of Liechtenstein is a subsidiary of the House of Habsburg.

— In this program, we set forth elements overlapping the dynamics presented above, including:

Manafort’s networking with the “Habsburg Group” of European politicians to effect Ukraine’s integration into the EU orbit: ”

—  ...A second Washington lobbying firm hired by Mr. Manafort, the Podesta Group, also said last year that it had ‘arranged meetings and media opportunities’ for visiting European leaders regarding Ukraine, starting in 2012, including for Mr. Gusenbauer, Mr. Prodi and two former presidents, Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland and Viktor A. Yushchenko of Ukraine. ...The group of senior former politicians, according to the indictment, was informally called the Hapsburg Group, after the Austro-Hungarian dynasty, the Habsburgs...”

Lee Harvey Manafort and the Habsburg Group enlisted Alex van Der Zwaan, son-in-law of German Khan the (Kiev) Ukraine-born founder of Alfa Bank —(cont, here)—

Program Highlights also include:

Ukraine’s suspension of cooperation with the Mueller probe, in order to avoid endangering Trump’s arming of Ukraine.

—  Manafort and the Habsburg Group’s networking with Andrei Artemenko, a Pravy Sektor affiliate whose operations with Felix Sater and Michael Cohen were described as part of a Russian conspiracy but were, in fact, part of an anti-Russian conspiracy. — This is discussed at length in FTR #967.

Review of Felix Sater’s intelligence background. Sater is the point man for Trump’s dealings with Russia. ” . . . . Sater reported back to intelligence agencies on the results of coalition bombings, kills on the battlefield, the financial networks behind the 9/11 bombers and other al-Qaeda members worldwide, and even the identity of a New Mexico company believed to be laundering terror funds in the United States.

Supplement to FTR #1111: Is Coronavirus A “Biological Warfare Psy-Op?” (here)

In FTR #1111, Dave Emory covered disturbing evidence that the coronavirus outbreak in China is a “biological warfare psy-op,” part of the destabilization of China, (excerpted below):

Novel Coronavirus–The Latest Pandemic Scare” by Dr. Joseph Mercola; Mercola; 2/4/2020.

The federal moratorium on lethal virus experiments in the U.S. was lifted at the end of December 2017, even though researchers announced in 2015 they had created a lab-created hybrid coronavirus similar to that of SARS capable of infecting both human airway cells and mice.

Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation sponsored a novel coronavirus pandemic preparedness exercise October 18, 2019, in New York called “Event 201.“ The simulation predicted a global death toll of 65 million people within a span of 18 months.  As reported by Forbes December 12, 2019

Wuhan is Home to Lab Studying World’s Latest Pathogens

In January 2018, China’s first maximum security virology laboratory (biosecurity level 4) designed for the study of the world’s most dangerous pathogens opened its doors — in Wuhan.41,42 Is it pure coincidence that Wuhan City is now the epicenter of this novel coronavirus infection?

The year before, Tim Trevan, a Maryland biosafety consultant, expressed concern about viral threats potentially escaping the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory, which happens to be located just 20 miles from the Wuhan market identified as ground zero for the current NCIP outbreak.  As reported by the Daily Mail

Pan-Turkism, Islamism & The Earth Island Boogie

The Uighur milieu inside Xinjiang, China

Muslim Uighurs as a destabilizing element in China’s mineral & petroleum-rich Xinjiang semiautonomous region

Introduction: This program continues with examination of centrifugal political and geo-political forces at work in the apparently ongoing destabilization of China.

[Editor's note: This is a complex topic, involving subjects dealt with at great length in past programs over the years. We recommend using the search function on this website (using quotation marks) to gain a deeper understanding of what Mr. Emory calls, “The Earth Island Boogie." By the same token, understanding that concept involves obtaining a grasp of Pan-Turkism and some of its manifestations in the Uighur milieu inside China. The following description has links to key programs that will flesh out the listeners’ {and readers'} understanding.]

Western use of the Turkophone*, Muslim Uighurs as a destabilizing element in China’s mineral & petroleum-rich Xinjiang semiautonomous region

*As adjectives, the difference between Turkish & Turkophone is that Turkish is: of, from, or pertaining to Turkey, the Turkish people or the Turkish language ... while Turkophone is of or relating to the Turkish languages or the speakers of these languages. As a proper noun, Turkish is the official language of Turkey & Turkish republic of Northern Cyprus.  As a noun, Turkophone is someone who speaks a Turkish language.

We begin an analysis of the use of the Turkophone, Muslim Uighurs as a destabilizing element in China’s mineral and petroleum-rich Xinjiang semiautonomous region.

Linked to Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and contributing to the jihadist milieu in Syria, the Uighurs also figure into the Pan-Turkist milieu, (covered in, among other programs: AFA #14, as well as FTR #‘s 720, 723, 819, 857, 862, 863, 878, 879, 884, 885, 886, 911).

Note that the geographical focal point of the Uighur separatist/jihadist activity not only encompasses mineral and resource-rich Xinjiang province, but lies in the area China has designated as an important area for their “Belt and Road Initiative.” That initiative is a program designed to build rail connections across what is known as “The Earth Island,” a project which appears to entail deep alarm on the part of interests in the West.

” ...The Uighur separatist spectrum is overlapped by the Uighur jihadi milieu, who link the issue of Xinjiang’s secession from China to that of forming a Salafist theocracy. Uighur jihadis have long since expanded their radius of actions beyond China’s borders.

This first drew public attention, when it was reported that, in ‘the war on terror,’ which began in 2002, the United States had been holding more than 20 Uighurs in their torture chambers at Guantanámo. The last of the prisoners were released only in late 2013. Uighur jihadis have long since expanded beyond their Afghanistan engagement to other regions of the world.

. . . Uighur jihadis’ activities have also been registered in other Southeast Asian countries, such as Malaysia and Indonesia — from where quite a few continue on to Turkey, to support the IS or al Qaeda. Last year, China had estimated that up to 300 Uighurs are fighting in the ranks of IS, while Syrian government officials set the figures at up to 5,000 Uighurs who are operating in various jihadi militias in Syria. Regardless of the accuracy of these estimates, experts are certain that a large contingent of Uighur militias are fighting within the ranks of IS and al Qaeda. An analysis published by the International Center for Counter-Terrorism in The Hague warns that the Uighur jihadi threat is largely underestimated in the West.[9]

...For China, this terrorism is that much more serious, because Xinjiang is a strategically important region. That autonomous region comprises central sectors of the ‘New Silk Road’ (‘Belt and Road Initiative,’ BRI) project, currently Beijing’s most important foreign policy mega-project. Unrest in Xinjiang threatens not only the People’s Republic of China’s domestic tranquility, but also its rise in world policy.

This unrest is being systematically fanned from abroad. Turkey, under President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has assumed a prominent role. While still mayor of Istanbul and long before becoming Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdo?an had declared that ‘East Turkestan is not only the homeland of the Turkic peoples, but also the cradle of Turkic history, civilization, and culture. The martyrs of East Turkestan are our martyrs.’[10] Uighur jihadis have regularly used Turkey as a safe haven. In his talk with german-foreign-policy.com, the German expert on intelligence services, Erich Schmidt-Eenboom confirmed that Ankara’s intelligence service has repeatedly, ‘sought to support secessionist attempts’ in Xinjiang.[11]

The Uighur/Al Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood/jihadist milieu is also discussed in, among other programs, FTR #'s 348549550615.

NATO & related elements use the Uighurs to destabilize China, w/Germany an epicenter of Uighur activity

Next, we detail the long history of NATO and related elements using the Uighurs to destabilize China, with Germany as an epicenter of Uighur activity.

We review terrorism against members of Han Chinese majority in Xinjiang by Uighurs

” ...Already since the 1990s, Xinjiang has been faced with terrorist attacks by members of the Turkic-speaking Uighur minority, fighting to secede this autonomous region from China, to found “East Turkestan.”

Some seek an eventual fusion with the Turkic-speaking countries of Central Asia.

The attacks that became known in the West included a Uighur terrorist attack at a coal mine in Xinjiang in September 2015. The assailants deliberately targeted non-Turkic-speaking workers — especially those of China’s majority Han population — slaughtering them with long knives. According to western media reports, at least 50 people died in the attack.[7]

March 1, 2014 eight Uighur terrorists armed also with knives attacked civilian travelers in a train station of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, killing 31 and wounding around 150, some seriously.

There have also been recurring pogroms targeting Han Chinese. For example, in July 2009, several thousand Uighur in Xinjiang’s capital, Urumqi, attacked Han Chinese. According to official figures, 197 people were killed; however, observers calculate the actual body count to be much higher... ”

As highlighted in, among other programs, FTR #‘s 547548549550, the Uighurs are part of a centripetal destabilization effort against China, utilizing the Dalai Lama’s SS-linked milieu, elements of CIA, and the Hapsburg-controlled UNPO to effect the partial dismemberment of that country.

We conclude with discussion about the Hong Kong Shanhai Banking Corporation. A major British bank, the growth of its largesse was inextricably linked with the opium trade Britain forced on China through the Opium Wars.  The bank perpetuated it’s involvement with major narcotics trafficking, laundering funds for contemporary drug cartels.  Ultimately, the bank became a vehicle for the financing of elements of Al-Qaeda and jihadism. We wonder if perhaps jihadist elements of the Uighurs may be receiving funding through the institution?

1. We begin with a topic we have covered before and will explore at greater length in our next broadcast.

“Setting Sights on East Turkestan” (1 of 2) – German Foreign Policy; 11/15/2018

The German government is participating in the West’s campaign against China’s anti-terrorist measures in its Xinjiang autonomous region. The Chinese authorities are taking massive repressive measures against Uighur terrorists and their milieu. They are being held in camps, which Beijing says are “educational centers.” Western governments are calling them “re-education camps.” Information on how many are being held, range from a few tens of thousands to a million. During his inaugural visit to that country, Germany’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas, publicly criticized China on this question. Beijing objected to Berlin’s interference in its domestic affairs. Over the past few years, hundreds and possibly thousands have fallen victim to Uighur separatist terrorism against Han Chinese. Uighur jihadis are also fighting within the ranks of the Islamic State (IS). The Uighur secessionists, who seek to separate Xinjiang — calling it “East Turkestan” — from China, are receiving support from western countries, including Germany.

Berlin cites actions by Chinese authorities in western China’s Xinjiang autonomous region to intensify international pressure on People’s Republic of China

Berlin is using the measures being taken by the Chinese authorities in western China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region, to help intensify international pressure on the People’s Republic of China. At the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday of last week, Germany, in league with France, Great Britain, Canada, and the United States, called on Beijing to shut down the camps for Uighurs in Xinjiang immediately. On Thursday, the German Bundestag debated a motion tabled by the Green Party group, calling on the German government to demand of China that “all camps and detention facilities be closed and the imprisoned be immediately and unconditionally set free.” The Bundestag also debated sanctions against Chinese officials.[1] Monday, Germany’s Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, upped the ante during his inaugural visit in Beijing, where he declared, “We cannot accept re-education camps.” The People’s Republic of China must “develop transparency” so that the outside world can “make a final verdict on what is happening.”[2]

Beijing objects to Germany & other Western interference

Beijing strongly objects to Germany’s — and other western countries’ — interference. In a letter dated last Friday, the Chinese embassy in Berlin characterized the Bundestag’s Xinjiang debate “a blatant interference in China’s domestic affairs and a gross violation of its sovereignty.”[3] The People’s Republic of China seeks dialogue with Germany “on the basis of equality and mutual respect.” The German government should take this note of protest seriously, “to insure that German-Chinese relations develop in the proper direction.” China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi categorically rejected Maas’ subsequent intervention in Beijing. “This is China’s domestic issue,” Wang declared following his meeting with Maas. In Xinjiang the issue is “the prevention of terrorism.” The camps are a “preventive measure.”[4]

Terror in Xinjiang

In fact, China’s measures in Xinjiang are part of its anti-terrorism operation. It is a Chinese alternative to the West’s “War on Terror,” which, since 2001, has included abduction of suspects to foreign torture chambers — also in Europe [5] — and use of drone attacks on suspects which cause numerous civilian casualties.[6]

Since the 1990s, Xinjiang has been faced with terrorist attacks by members of the Turkic-speaking Uighur minority, fighting to secede this autonomous region from China, to found “East Turkestan.” Some seek an eventual fusion with the Turkic-speaking countries of Central Asia.

The attacks that became known in the West included a Uighur terrorist attack at a coal mine in Xinjiang in September 2015. The assailants deliberately targeted non-Turkic-speaking workers — especially those of China’s majority Han population — slaughtering them with long knives.

According to western media reports, at least 50 people died in the attack.[7] March 1, 2014 eight Uighur terrorists armed also with knives attacked civilian travelers in a train station of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, killing 31 and wounding around 150, some seriously. According to official figures, 197 people were killed; however, observers calculate the actual body count to be much higher.

Uighur Jihad

The Uighur separatist spectrum is overlapped by the Uighur jihadi milieu, who link the issue of Xinjiang’s secession from China to that of forming a Salafist theocracy. Uighur jihadis have long since expanded their radius of actions beyond China’s borders. This first drew public attention, when it was reported that, in “the war on terror,” which began in 2002, the United States had been holding more than 20 Uighurs in their torture chambers at Guantanámo. The last of the prisoners were released only in late 2013.

Uighur jihadis have expanded beyond their Afghanistan engagement to other regions of the world. For example, the assailants behind a bombing attack on August 17, 2015, in Bangkok, had ties to Uighurs. The attack was carried out at a shrine that was a tourist attraction for Chinese. The attack killed 20 people, most of them ethnic Chinese tourists.[8] z

An analysis published by the International Center for Counter-Terrorism in The Hague warns that the Uighur jihadi threat is largely underestimated in the West.[9]

Xinjiang region strategically important

For China, this terrorism is that much more serious, because Xinjiang is a strategically important region. That autonomous region comprises central sectors of the “New Silk Road” (“Belt and Road Initiative,” (BRI) project, currently Beijing’s most important foreign policy mega-project.

Unrest in Xinjiang threatens not only the People’s Republic of China’s domestic tranquility, but also its rise in world policy. Uighur separatists active in Germany with official support

Uighur separatists are active in Germany, as well, at times, even with official support — which sheds a new light on Berlin’s most recent attacks against the People’s Republic of China. The activities date back to the cold war. german-foreign-policy.com will soon report.

"Setting Sights on East Turkestan" (2 of 2) – German Foreign Policy; 11/26/2018

For decades, Uighur separatists, (under prosecution currently by the Chinese authorities in Xinjiang), have had their foreign operational base in the Federal Republic of Germany. Exiled Uighurs in Munich had propagated the secession of western China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region — “East Turkestan” — already in the 1970s over the U.S. propaganda broadcaster Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). Since then, the Federal Republic of Germany has become “the central outpost and the most important base for promoting the cause of Eastern Turkestan independence,” according to a study on the Uighur exiles, with Munich hosting the World Uighur Congress (WUC), the central outpost of a global Uighur exile network. Its leadership is in contact also with Uighurs in Central Asia and Chinese dissidents in exile in India and maintains relations with officials in Berlin and Washington. A study presented by the U.S. military, concludes that Uighur separatism will hardly be successful — at least, not without outside support.

Germany – central outpost & main base for promoting Eastern Turkestan independence & Uighur nationalism

Since the 1970s, the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) has gradually become “the central outpost and the most important base for promoting the cause of Eastern Turkestan independence and Uighur nationalism,” according to a study on the Uighur exiles.[1]

Erkin Alptekin, working for the U.S. propaganda broadcaster, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in Munich since 1971, was one of the first prominent Uighur activists in the FRG. Alptekin could profit from his name: Prior to the 1949 founding of the People’s Republic of China, his father Isa Yusuf Alptekin had been considered one of the leading separatists in what is today Xinjiang. He had been appointed Secretary General of the Islamic Eastern Turkestan Republic, which seceded from China in 1933, but only existed for a few months. From the 1950s until his death in 1995, Isa Yusuf Alptekin had been active in Turkey, whereas his son was active in Munich — as the de facto “leader of the Eastern Turkestan independence movement in Europe.”[2] Erkin Alptekin has founded diverse organizations, including the World Uighur Congress (WUC), headquartered in Munich, over which he had presided, 2004 to 2006.

Global Network

The exiled Uighurs in and around Munich were always seeking to gain influence on the policies of the FRG — not only by their demonstrations and petitions, but also through contacting members of parliament and ministerial officials in Berlin [3] with Erkin Alptekin playing a major role. From his Bavarian exile, Alptekin has also been lobbying in other Western countries. In the spring of 2004, he visited the United States, where he was received by prominent foreign policy experts in the U.S. Congress.[4] In the summer of 2009, he briefed the human rights commission in the Italian parliament.[5] Alptekin also sought to foster contacts to Uighurs in Central Asia. For example, in the spring of 2000, he visited Kyrgyzstan for discussions on the Uighur situation of that country. The Uighur minority is estimated at 50,000 members.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In November 2006, Alptekin was replaced at the head of WUC by Rebiya Kadeer, a former businesswoman from Xinjiang. In the 90s, she had been one of China’s most wealthy women, and, was holding political office. However, she was then arrested for separatist activities and — under Washington’s political pressure — permitted in March 2005 to leave China for the USA. She has been active within the structures of exile Uighur separatists ever since. She was a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

At WUC’s Second General Assembly (November 24, — 27, 2006 in Munich) she was elected president. In the run-up to this assembly, Kadeer had spent time in Berlin, where she held talks also with German parliamentarians and officials of Germany’s Foreign Ministry. During WUC’s General Assembly, she received more than 50 congratulatory letters from high-ranking politicians, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel.[6] In June 2007, she introduced her autobiography (“Dragon Fighter”) at Germany’s Federal Press Conference in Berlin. In October 2007, she was again officially received in the German capital.[7] Kadeer has also frequently met with high-ranking politicians in Washington, including President George W. Bush in July 2008.

Uighur pogrom-like riots in Xinjiang’s capital Urumqi

It remains unclear what role WUC played in the July 5, 2009 Uighur pogrom-like riots in Xinjiang’s capital, Urumqi. That day, according to numerous eyewitnesses, thousands of Uighurs allegedly attacked Han Chinese, destroying more than 200 businesses, 14 residential buildings, and setting fire to more than 250 vehicles. According to official figures, 197 people were killed — including 134 Han Chinese and 10 members of the Hui minority. According to the government, the WUC had been instigating unrest also via internet, calling on Uighur “to be braver” and “to do something big.” This was understood as a call for violence.[8] WUC denies these accusations.

However, it is a fact that two days later, following an exile Uighur protest in Munich, two unidentified persons threw Molotov cocktails at the local Chinese General Consulate. The same day, Uighur demonstrators threatened Chinese tourists in Munich’s Marienplatz Square. A WUC spokesperson was quoted saying that he does not know, who had thrown the Molotov cocktails, “but he knows that our people hate the Chinese authorities.”[9] September 1, 2009, the European Parliament’s Human Rights Committee invited WUC President Kadeer to provide information on the July 5 riots in Urumqi. According to the committee’s protocol-like summary of the meeting, there was no mention of Uighur violence against Han Chinese. There was merely speculation about whether the police had possibly killed Han Chinese by mistake.[10]

A Pact among Separatists

WUC remains active in Munich. A year ago, in November, it had convened its Sixth General Assembly, with more than 100 delegates from 18 countries. German Bundestag and European parliamentarians were also on hand, according to WUC reports. Dolkun Isa, a long-standing German resident, was elected president of WUC. One year earlier, he had sought to visit Chinese dissidents in Dharamsala (India) — in vain.[11] Dharamsala is known as the main base of operations of Tibetan exiles. The WUC has always sought to federate organizations of all of the Chinese separatists, including those supporting an independent Tibetan theocracy.

Situation in Xinjiang remains tense – Uighur separatism without external support & recognition unlikely to succeed

A scholarly thesis, presented in 2015 by the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, sheds light on the significance of Uighur exile. The author, a Major of the Pakistani Army, concluded that the situation in Xinjiang will remain tense and Uighur separatism “without any external support and recognition, is not likely to succeed.”[12]

“The Chinese Opposition’s Foreign Hub” German Foreign Policy; 9/12/2019

With its professionally choreographed reception of Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong, Berlin is presenting itself to the international public as the Chinese opposition’s foreign hub. Wong was personally welcomed in Berlin by the Foreign Minister, and, he demanded at the Federal Press Conference that action be taken against China. Germany has already granted asylum to two other dissidents from Hong Kong, who had been calling for the city’s secession from China and have been indicted for their participation in riots. For decades, Uighur separatist associations have had their foreign operational base in the Federal Republic of Germany, including one accused of participating in preparations of the pogrom-like riots, which claimed the lives of nearly 200 people. German politicians are supporting Tibetan separatists as well — seeing them as a point of leverage for weakening the People’s Republic of China. A Chinese writer, who called China a “pile of garbage,” was awarded the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.

Secede Tibet

For many years, western powers, including the Federal Republic of Germany, have been using the Tibet conflict as a point of leverage for weakening the Chinese state. Whereas some of the Tibetan clergy traditionally have been willing to cooperate with Beijing, others have been in conflict with the People’s Republic of China.

Their demands range from ever greater autonomy, all the way to secession, with some even demanding the secession of “Greater Tibet,” which would not only include the autonomous region of Tibet, but Chinese provinces as well.

Since the 1980s, a Tibet lobby has been established particularly in the West, in which the Dalai Lama, who is based in India’s Dharamsala, plays a key role. Since the mid-1980s, the demands of the Tibet lobby have been regularly picked up by German politicians, with, in particular, the Green Party and the FDP-affiliated Friedrich Naumann Foundation serving as its mouthpiece.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation has also organized several international conferences, at which the Tibet lobby could coordinate its political activities. At one such conference an international campaign was organized, attacking the Olympic Torch Relay ahead of the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Managed by professional public relations, the campaign caused considerable damage to China’s image. (german-foreign-policy.com reported.[1])

In September 2007, Chancellor Angela Merkel ostentatiously received in the chancellery the Dalai Lama, who was at odds with Beijing.[2] Three German parliamentarians, including the Bundestag’s Vice President Claudia Roth (The Greens) created a stir in mid-May 2018, when they received Lobsang Sangay, the president of the self-proclaimed Tibetan government in exile.

Secede Xinjiang

The West is also using controversies in western China’s Xinjiang province as a second point of leverage. There are two conflicts intermingling. On the one hand, secessionists have long been active in the Autonomous Region of the Turkic-speaking Uighurs. They seek to have Xinjiang secede from China, to found “East Turkestan,” some even with the idea of fusing with the Turkic-speaking regions of Central Asia and establishing a “greater Turkish empire.”

On the other hand, Islamist forces have been on the rise since the 1990s in Xinjiang’s social conservative rural areas. Terrorist attacks by Uighur jihadis have claimed numerous lives over the past few decades.

Up to today, the Turkistan Islamic Party, a union of Uighur jihadis is fighting alongside the al Qaeda offshoot Hayat Tahrir al Sham in Syria’s Idlib Province. (german-foreign-policy.com reported.[3])

Uighur exile organizations have been active in the Federal Republic of Germany and agitating for the Xinjiang’s secession from China, already since the late 1970s.

The World Uighur Congress, with its headquarters in Munich, plays a central role in the globally operating association of Uighur activists. The congress is being accused of having been involved in the preparations of the pogrom-like attacks on Han Chinese in July 2009, in Xinjiang’s capitol Urumqi, resulting in the murder of at least 197, including at least 134 Han Chinese.[4]

May 8, 2019, the President of the World Uighur Congress, Dolkun Isa, gave a report on the situation in Xinjiang to the Human Rights Committee of the German Bundestag.[5] Among the organization’s most loyal German supporters is the Green parliamentarian Margarete Bause, spokesperson for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid of her party’s parliamentary group.

Berlin supports China’s middle class milieu in political conflict with the Chinese government

Alongside the support for Tibet and Xinjiang’s separatists, Berlin has always supported those from China’s middle class milieu, who are in political conflict with the Chinese government. In 2010, for example, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explicitly praised the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to the Chinese dissident, Liu Xiaobo.

A political program, “Charter 08,” co-authored by Liu, included among the demands, one for the transformation of the People’s Republic of China into a federally organized republic, along the lines of the Federal Republic of Germany, which would entail a reversion of the nationalization measures undertaken by Beijing since 1949. [6]

Liu Xia, the widow of the Nobel Prize laureate, who died July 13, 2017, has been living in exile in Berlin since July 2018. For a while, the dissident artist Ai Weiwei, who moved to the German capital in 2015, had served as the key witness against Beijing. However, he is only seldom seen now, since he expressed sharp criticism of German conditions and announced that he was planning to leave. The German society thinks of itself as “being open,” but it shields ” itself, above all,” criticized Ai. It does “not really accept other ideas and arguments,” and has “little respect for unconventional voices.”[7]

On the other hand, the Chinese poet Liao Yiwu, who has been living in Berlin since 2011, remains loyal to Germany. In October 2012, during his acceptance speech at the reception of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, Liao declared that China is an “infinitely large pile of garbage,” where “many regions and peoples are forced to be tethered together” and must be broken down into numerous mini-states.[8] At the award ceremony, numerous prominent German officials applauded after Liao’s demand that the People’s Republic of China be smashed — Germany’s President included.

Secede Hong Kong

Last year, at the latest, Germany began to also make itself a name as an exile platform for the Hong Kong dissidents. In May 2018, for example, the first two men from China’s metropolis were given asylum in Germany. The two members of the “Hong Kong Indigenous” organization, seeking to secede the city from China, had been arrested in the night of February 8, 2016, for their involvement in the bloody riots in the Mong Kok District, where several hundred persons had attacked police officers with bottles and stones — wounding 80 — and set cars on fire.[9]

Monday night, the Hong Kong activist, Joshua Wong arrived in Berlin and was immediately welcomed by Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. Wong is Secretary General of the Demosisto Party, which campaigns for a referendum, where also Hong Kong’s future secession from China should be voted on. Even before his arrival in Germany, he had announced that he was coming to explore whether Germany would be a suitable exile country for other Hong Kong dissidents.

In fact, there are numerous demonstrators facing sentencing for having vandalized subway stations and the local parliament building, attacked police officers with stones and Molotov cocktails, as well as set fires near police stations.

On the weekend, thousands of demonstrators called on President Donald Trump to intervene.[10] Their protests correspond to the well tested escalation strategy methods, applied also, for example, in 2014 in Ukraine.

Berlin – China opposition foreign hub

With a professionally choreographed reception for Wong, Berlin is also making its mark as the Chinese opposition’s foreign hub. However, the disparate milieu, who have found refuge and support in Germany — Buddhists as well as Muslim separatists, controversial artists, liberals, suspected rioters — all share a single objective, to put an end to the People’s Republic of China, as it currently exists, and if possible — smash it.

By allowing them to take the world stage and providing access to the foreign minister, Berlin is brazenly interfering in the domestic affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The fact that the German government would itself categorically forbid comparable interference of foreign countries, can be seen in the fashionable — although in many cases unproven — accusations that Russia interferes in the domestic affairs of western countries.

The scandal, it would cause, if, for example one of the leading activists of the protests of the G20 Summit in Hamburg would have been given asylum in Moscow, or if the Chinese Foreign Minister would have welcomed him for talks, is easily imaginable.

German Crimes of Chinese Genocide

Berlin’s current interference in China’s domestic affairs is being carried out, in spite of Germany’s role in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, as one of the main participants in the crushing of the Chinese Empire — even including colonial mass murder.

Although what was done then, is hardly known today in the population of the Federal Republic of Germany, it is general knowledge In the People’s Republic of China. german-foreign-policy.com will soon report.

Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HKBC)

4. We conclude with discussion about the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation.

Gangster Banksters: Too Big to Jail – How HSBC hooked up with drug traffickers & terrorists & got away with it –by Matt Taibi; Rolling Stone 2/14/2013

...Also known as the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, HSBC has always been associated with drugs. Founded in 1865, HSBC became the major commercial bank in colonial China after the conclusion of the Second Opium War. If you’re rusty in your history of Britain’s various wars of Imperial rape, the Second Opium War was the one where Britain and other European powers basically slaughtered lots of Chinese people until they agreed to legalize the dope trade, (much like they had done in the First Opium War, which ended in 1842).

A century and a half later, it appears not much has changed. With its strong on-the-ground presence in many of the various ex-colonial territories in Asia and Africa, and its rich history of cross-cultural moral flexibility, HSBC has a very different international footprint than other Too Big to Fail banks like Wells Fargo or Bank of America. While the American banking behemoths mainly gorged themselves on the toxic residential-mortgage trade that caused the 2008 financial bubble, HSBC took a slightly different path, turning itself into the destination bank for domestic and international scoundrels of every possible persuasion...

...In April 2003, with 9/11 still fresh in the minds of American regulators, the Federal Reserve sent HSBC’s American subsidiary a cease-and-desist letter, ordering it to clean up its act and make a better effort to keep criminals and terrorists from opening accounts at its bank. One of the bank’s bigger customers, for instance, was Saudi Arabia’s Al Rajhi bank, which had been linked by the CIA and other government agencies to terrorism. According to a document cited in a Senate report, one of the bank’s founders, Sulaiman bin Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi, was among 20 early financiers of Al Qaeda, a member of what Osama bin Laden himself apparently called the “Golden Chain.”

In 2003, the CIA wrote a confidential report about the bank, describing Al Rajhi as a “conduit for extremist finance.” In the report, details of which leaked to the public by 2007, the agency noted that Sulaiman Al Rajhi consciously worked to help Islamic “charities” hide their true nature, ordering the bank’s board to “explore financial instruments that would allow the bank’s charitable contributions to avoid official Saudi scrutiny.” (The bank has denied any role in financing extremists.)

In January 2005, while under the cloud of its first double-secret-probation agreement with the U.S., HSBC decided to partially sever ties with Al Rajhi. Note the word “partially”: The decision would only apply to Al Rajhi banking and not to its related trading company, a distinction that tickled executives inside the bank. In March 2005, Alan Ketley, a compliance officer for HSBC’s American subsidiary, HBUS, gleefully told Paul Plesser, head of his bank’s Global Foreign Exchange Department, that it was cool to do business with Al Rajhi Trading. “Looks like you’re fine to continue dealing with Al Rajhi,” he wrote. “You’d better be making lots of money!”

But this backdoor arrangement with bin Laden’s suspected “Golden Chain” banker wasn’t direct enough – many HSBC executives wanted the whole shebang restored. In a remarkable email sent in May 2005, Christopher Lok, HSBC’s head of global bank notes, asked a colleague if they could maybe go back to fully doing business with Al Rajhi as soon as one of America’s primary banking regulators, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, lifted the 2003 cease-and-desist order: “After the OCC closeout and that chapter is hopefully finished, could we revisit Al Rajhi again? London compliance has taken a more lenient view.”

After being slapped with the order in 2003, HSBC began blowing off its requirements both in letter and in spirit – and on a mass scale, too. Instead of punishing the bank, though, the government’s response was to send it more angry letters. Typically, those came in the form of so-called “MRA” (Matters Requiring Attention) letters sent by the OCC. Most of these touched upon the same theme, i.e., HSBC failing to do due diligence on the shady characters who might be depositing money in its accounts or using its branches to wire money. HSBC racked up these “You’re Still Screwing Up and We Know It” orders by the dozen, and in just one brief stretch between 2005 and 2006, it received 30 different formal warnings.

Nonetheless, in February 2006 the OCC under George Bush suddenly decided to release HSBC from the 2003 cease-and-desist order. In other words, HSBC basically violated its parole 30 times in just more than a year and got off anyway. The bank was, to use the street term, “off paper” – and free to let the Al Rajhis of the world come rushing back.

After HSBC fully restored its relationship with the apparently terrorist-friendly Al Rajhi Bank in Saudi Arabia, it supplied the bank with nearly 1 billion U.S. dollars.

11/17/19 FTR #1103 Fascism, 2019 World Tour, Part 13: Goose-Hopping in Hong Kong with Pepe the Frog & the Azov Battalion

Introduction: We have been highlighting the role of Ukraine as a “pivot point” for the Earth Island or World Island, and the evolution of the Intermarium concept in the application of fascist control of that unfortunate country.

Stretching from the Straits of Gibraltar, all across Europe, most of the Middle East, Eurasia, Russia, China and India, that stretch of land: comprises most of the world’s land mass; contains most of the world’s population and most of the world’s natural resources (including oil and natural gas.) Geopoliticians have long seen controlling that land mass as the key to world domination.

Key to analyzing the realization of control of the Ukrainian “pivot point” is the OUN milieu and its manifestation through the better part of the last century:

The Army’s Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) confirmed the primacy of the OUN/B within the ABN: ” . . . . CIC confirmed that by 1948 both the ‘Intermarium’ and the UPA (Ukrainian partisan command) reported to the ABN president, Yaroslav Stetsko. The UPA in turn had consolidated all the anti-Soviet partisans under its umbrella. Yaroslav Stetsko was also Secretary of OUN/B and second in command to Bandera, who had the largest remaining partisan group behind Soviet lines under his direct command. Thus, OUN/B had achieved the leadership role among the anti-Communist exiles and was ascendant by 1950 ...”

Contemporary Ukraine is the focal point of the reincarnated Intermarium concept. ” ...The most recent reincarnation of the Intermarium has taken form in Ukraine, especially among the Ukrainian far right, which has re-appropriated the concept by capitalizing on the solid ideological and personal continuity between actors of the Ukrainian far right in the interwar and Cold War periods and their heirs today...”

The continuity of the Intermarium concept as manifested in contemporary Ukraine is epitomized by the role of Yaroslava Stetsko (Yaroslav’s widow and successor as a decisive ABN and OUN leader). Note the networking between her Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists and Svoboda. “... This continuity is exemplified by the wife of long-time ABN leader Yaroslav Stetsko, Yaroslava Stetsko (1920–2003), a prominent figure in the Ukrainian post-Second World War émigré community who became directly involved in post-Soviet Ukrainian politics. Having joined the OUN at the age of 18, she became an indispensable supporter of the ABN after the war . . . . In July 1991, she returned to Ukraine, and in the following year formed the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists (CUN), a new political party established on the basis of the OUN, presiding over both.[129] Although the CUN never achieved high election results, it cooperated with the Social-National Party of Ukraine (SNPU), which later changed its name to Svoboda, the far-right Ukrainian party that continues to exist...”

Yaroslava Stetsko’s CUN was co-founded by her husband’s former secretary in the 1980s, Roman Svarych. Minister of Justice in the Viktor Yuschenko government (as well as both Timoshenko governments), Svarych became the spokesman and a major recruiter for the Azov Battalion. ” ... The co-founder of the CUN and formerly Yaroslav Stetsko’s private secretary, the U.S.-born Roman Zvarych (1953), represents a younger generation of the Ukrainian émigré community active during the Cold War and a direct link from the ABN to the Azov Battalion. . . . Zvarych participated in the activities of the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations in the 1980s. . . . In February 2005, after Viktor Yushchenko’s election, Zvarych was appointed Minister of Justice... According to Andriy Biletsky, the first commander of the Azov battalion, a civil paramilitary unit created in the wake of the Euromaidan, Zvarych was head of the headquarters of the Azov Central Committee in 2015 and supported the Azov battalion with ‘volunteers’ and political advice through his Zvarych Foundation...”

The “Intermarium Continuity” is inextricable with the historical revisionism about the roles of the OUN and UPA in World War II. That revisionism is institionalized in the Institute of National Remembrance. ” ...The reintroduction of the Intermarium notion in Ukraine is closely connected to the broad rehabilitation of the OUN and UPA, as well as of their main hero, Stepan Bandera ... During his presidency (2005–2010), and particularly through the creation of the Institute for National Remembrance,  Viktor Yushchenko built the image of Bandera as a simple Ukrainian nationalist fighting for his country’s independence...”

As discussed in numerous programs, another key element in the “Intermarium Continuity” is Kateryna Chumachenko, an OUN operative who served in the State Department and Ronald Reagan’s administration. She married Viktor Yuschenko. ” ... It is not unlikely Yushchenko’s readiness during his presidency (2005–2010) to open up to right-wing tendencies of the Ukrainian exile leads back to his wife, who had connections to the ABN. Kateryna Chumachenko [Yushchenko], born 1961 in Chicago, was socialised there in the Ukrainian exile youth organisation SUM (Spilka Ukrajinskoji Molodi, Ukrainian Youth Organisation) in the spirit of the OUN. Via the lobby association Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) she obtained a post as  ‘special assistant’ in the U.S. State Department in 1986, and was from 1988 to 1989 employed by the Office of Public Liaison in the White House...

Embodying the “Intermarium Continuity” are the lustration laws, which make it a criminal offense to tell the truth about the OUN and UPA’s roles in World War II. Note Volodymyr Viatrovych’s position as minister of education. ” ...

This rehabilitation trend accelerated after the EuroMaidan. In 2015, just before the seventieth anniversary of Victory Day, Volodymyr Viatrovych, minister of education and long-time director of the Institute for the Study of the Liberation Movement, an organization founded to promote the heroic narrative of the OUN–UPA, called on the parliament to vote for a set of four laws that codified the new, post-Maidan historiography. Two of them are particularly influential in the ongoing memory war with Russia. One decrees that OUN and UPA members are to be considered ‘fighters for Ukrainian independence in the twentieth century,’ making public denial of this unlawful...”

As discussed discussed in FTR #‘s 1096 and 1097, the Azov Battalion is in the leadership of the revival of the Intermarium concept.” ... In this context of rehabilitation of interwar heroes, tensions with Russia, and disillusion with Europe over its perceived lack of support against Moscow, the geopolitical concept of Intermarium could only prosper. It has found its most active promoters on the far right of the political spectrum, among the leadership of the Azov Battalion...”

Azov’s Intermarium Support Group has held three networking conferences to date, bringing together key figures of what are euphemized as “nationalist” organizations. In addition to focusing on the development of what are euphemized as “nationalist” youth organizations, the conference is stressing military organization and preparedness: ”...

In 2016, Biletsky created the Intermarium Support Group (ISG),[152] introducing the concept to potential comrades-in-arms from the Baltic-Black Sea region.[153] The first day of the founding conference was reserved for lectures and discussions by senior representatives of various sympathetic organizations, the second day to ‘the leaders of youth branches of political parties and nationalist movements of the Baltic-Black Sea area.’ ... It also included ‘military attaches of diplomatic missions from the key countries in the region (Poland, Hungary, Romania and Lithuania)...”

On our Fascism: 2019 World Tour, we have covered the destabilization of China and Hong Kong, as well as the operations of the Ukrainian Nazi Azov milieu. Now, there has been something of a convergence.

Augmenting the right-wing and fascist presence in Hong Kong are veterans of the Azov Battalion and Pravy Sektor. ” . . . . The latest collection of extreme-right activists to reinforce the ranks of the Hong Kong separatists are from Ukraine. They call themselves Gonor and have tattoos on their upper torsos with undeniable symbols of white supremacy and neo-Nazism. These extremists previously fought in a notoriously brutal neo-Nazi militia called the Azov Battalion, in Ukraine’s war against pro-Russian militants...”

The Gonor contingent includes a former leader of Pravy Sektor (Right Sector).... ” Journalist Morgan Artyukhina identified another member of the far-right Ukrainian contingent in Hong Kong as Serhii Sternenko. Artyukhina noted that Sternenko is a former leader of the Ukrainian fascist group Right Sector, which burned down a trade union building in Odessa during the 2014 coup, killing 42 people...”

The broadcast reviews the evolution of Pravy Sektor from the UPA and its activities in the Caucasus. The UPA/Pravy Sektor/UNA-UNSO evolution is the embodiment of the Intermarium continuity.

Of particular significance is the fact that the Ukrainian fascists are in Hong Kong under the auspices of an EU-financed NGO. ” ...The Free Hong Kong Center is a project of an NGO called the Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine. In addition to building links with anti-Beijing forces in Hong Kong, the project says its mission is to ‘counter Chinese threats to Ukraine.’ The Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine is a pro-European Union advocacy organization which is a member of the European Liberal Youth and the International Federation of Liberal Youth, both of which are funded by the EU...”

Azov Battalion Spin Off National Militia, served as election monitors in Ukraine.
Key points of discussion and analysis include:

The Azov and Pravy Sektor veterans call themselves Gonor and the NGO that facilitated their entry into Hong Kong whitewashed the Nazi/fascist nature of the group.

Members of the group sported a variety of Nazi and fascist tattoos, including the “Victory or Valhalla” slogan that was the title of a book by David Lane. Lane drove the getaway car for the murder of talk-show host Alan Berg and minted the 14 Words—emblematic for the international Nazi movement. Svoboda’s C14 militia takes its name from the 14 words.  ” . . . . Several photos show that at least two of the Ukrainian fascists in Hong Kong have tattoos reading “Victory or Valhalla,” the title of a compilation of writings by the notorious American white supremacist David Lane, whose neo-fascist terrorist group The Order murdered a liberal Jewish radio host and planned more assassinations of left-wing Jews. Lane, who was convicted to 190 years in a US prison for numerous crimes, created the most famous white supremacist slogan, known as the 14 Words — which inspired the name of another Ukrainian neo-Nazi group called C14. . . .”
Gonor has embraced the slogan “Stand with Hong Kong.” ” . . . .  Stand With Hong Kong is also the name of a Western-backed organization that has been lobbying the governments of the US, Britain, Germany, Canada, and Australia to impose sanctions and take punitive action against China. . . .”
Gonor’s Telegram channel has highlighted acts of violence by the “pro-Democracy” demonstrators. ” . . . . Gonor’s Telegram channel offers members a front row seat to an orgy of violence. It has published dozens of videos of Hong Kong insurgents, heroizing them for shooting arrows and carrying out brutal attacks on state security forces. . . .”

Are the Azov and Pravy Sektor veterans in Hong Kong to provide a violent, military presence as part of the Hong Kong destabilization effort? Are we witnessing a “Hong Kong” Maidan?
In FTR #1089, we noted the presence of Pepe the Frog as an iconic presence in the Hong Kong turmoil.

Steve Bannon–one of the luminaries of the “Alt-Right,” and a former key Trump aide is centrally involved in the anti-China effort. This suggests that the presence of Pepe the Frog’s image in Hong Kong might have something to do with the “Alt-Right” after all.

Note Bannon and company’s networking with the Falun Gong cult and “Chinese Muslim Freedom Fighters”–read “Uighurs.’

As discussed in–among other programs–FTR #‘s 946 and 1077, Bannon was at the epicenter of the Cambridge Analytica cyber-psy-op during the 2016 election. One of the principal operators of Cambridge Analytica was Christopher Wylie.

We wonder if the techniques used by Bannon, Wylie, Cambridge Analytica, SCL et al might have been used in Hong Kong? The the laissez-faire economy of Hong Kong has seen a 300 percent increase in rents while income has stagnated, thus impoverishing 20% of Hong Kong’s population. Many young people in Hong Kong might well be vulnerable to the type of social media psy-op that Cambridge Analytica specialized in.

Was such a technique employed to help generate the unrest in Hong Kong?

In our next program, we will review the rebirth of Cambridge Analytica, with a Hong Kong-based financier and business partner of Erik Prince (of Blackwater fame and the brother of Trump Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos) on the board of directors.

Cambridge Analytica is rebranding under a new company, Emerdata. Intriguingly, Cambridge Analytica’s transformation into Emerdata is noteworthy because  the firm’s directors include Johnson Ko Chun Shun, a Hong Kong financier and business partner of Erik Prince: ” . . . . But the company’s announcement left several questions unanswered, including who would retain the company’s intellectual property — the so-called psychographic voter profiles built in part with data from Facebook — and whether Cambridge Analytica’s data-mining business would return under new auspices. . . . In recent months, executives at Cambridge Analytica and SCL Group, along with the Mercer family, have moved to created a new firm, Emerdata, based in Britain, according to British records. The new company’s directors include Johnson Ko Chun Shun, a Hong Kong financier and business partner of Erik Prince. . . . An executive and a part owner of SCL Group, Nigel Oakes, has publicly described Emerdata as a way of rolling up the two companies under one new banner. . . . ”

The program concludes with discussion of WikiLeaks’ links to Chinese and Tibetan dissident activists and speculation about the CIA’s Edward Snowden’s activities in Hong Kong–the first stop on his international odyssey. In Hong Kong, he networked with WikiLeaks, who then facilitated his decampment to Moscow. That trip was the opening gambit in the New Cold War.

In our next program, we will further discuss China’s role as an international leader in Green technology and the implications of this for the Lithium Coup in Bolivia.

1a.  On our Fascism: 2019 World Tour, we have covered the destabilization of China and Hong Kong, as well as the operations of the Ukrainian Nazi Azov milieu. Now, there has been something of a convergence.

“Ukrainian neo-Nazis flock to the Hong Kong protest movement” by Ben Norton; The Gray Zone; 12/04/2019.

Neo-Nazis from Ukraine have flown to Hong Kong to participate in the anti-Chinese insurgency, which has been widely praised by Western corporate media and portrayed as a peaceful pro-democracy movement.

Since March 2019, Hong Kong has been the site of often-violent protests and riots that have run the city’s economy into the ground. The US government has funded many of the groups leading the pro-Western and anti-Beijing movement, and opposition leaders have coordinated closely with conservative political figures in Washington like Marco Rubio and Steve Bannon, lobbying for sanctions and other punitive measures against China.

Man burned alive by Hong Kong protesters.
Numerous delegations of far-right groups from across the world have traveled to Hong Kong to join the violent insurgency against Beijing, in which secessionists have attacked police with bows and arrows, shot gasoline bombs out of catapults, and burned numerous people alive.

With their flamboyant waving of US and British colonial flags and tendency to belt out the American national anthem on megaphones, anti-China separatists in Hong Kong have made themselves a magnet for the US far-right. Staff of the website InfoWars, right-wing social media personality Paul Joseph Watson, and the ultra-conservative group Patriot Prayer are among those who have made pilgrimages to the protests.

The latest collection of extreme-right activists to reinforce the ranks of the Hong Kong separatists are from Ukraine. They call themselves Gonor and have tattoos on their upper torsos with undeniable symbols of white supremacy and neo-Nazism.

These extremists previously fought in a notoriously brutal neo-Nazi militia called the Azov Battalion, in Ukraine’s war against pro-Russian militants.

The Azov Battalion is an explicitly fascist paramilitary group that organizes around neo-Nazi ideology. After a Western-backed 2014 coup against Ukraine’s democratically elected government, Azov was incorporated into the Ukrainian national guard. It has received support from the US government, which has armed and advised the neo-Nazis in their fight against Moscow.

Azov has also helped train American white supremacists, who have plotted terrorist attacks back at home in the United States.

The presence of Ukrainian regime-change activists in the Hong Kong protests is further evidence of the alliances that anti-Chinese activists in Hong Kong are building with other right-wing, US-backed movements around the world, sharing tactics to weaken and destabilize countries targeted by NATO.

Ukrainian fascists join Hong Kong insurgency

On December 1, the far-right activist Serhii Filimonov posted photos on Facebook showing himself and three Ukrainian friends upon their arrival in Hong Kong. The images were accompanied by the anti-Beijing’s unofficial slogan: “Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong!!”

Stand With Hong Kong is also the name of a Western-backed organization that has been lobbying the governments of the US, Britain, Germany, Canada, and Australia to impose sanctions and take punitive action against China.

In a video they posted on social media, the Ukrainian white supremacists revealed that they had obtained a press pass, misleadingly portraying themselves as journalists.

[see image of Ukrainian fascist showing image of the press pass they obtained]

Joining Filimonov on the trip to Hong Kong was a notorious extreme-right Ukrainian activist who goes by the name Maliar. Maliar is popular on Instagram, under the name xgadzillax, where he has more than 23,000 followers. (Maliar has a distinctive scar on the left side of the neck, which makes him easy to recognize in photos.)

[see image of Ukrainian fascist’s distinctive head tattoos and scar]

Besides the swastikas inked into his skull, Maliar had the Nazi symbols tattooed on his right leg, next to an algiz rune, another common white supremacist emblem.

[see image of Ukrainian fascist’s distinctive leg tattoos]

Several photos show that at least two of the Ukrainian fascists in Hong Kong have tattoos reading “Victory or Valhalla,” the title of a compilation of writings by the notorious American white supremacist David Lane, whose neo-fascist terrorist group The Order murdered a liberal Jewish radio host and planned more assassinations of left-wing Jews.

Lane, who was convicted to 190 years in a US prison for numerous crimes, created the most famous white supremacist slogan, known as the 14 Words — which inspired the name of another Ukrainian neo-Nazi group called C14.

Filimonov, who also has a large following on Instagram, where he uses the name Sunperuna, published a photo showing the phrase “Victory or Valahalla” emblazoned on his chest.

[see image of Ukrainian fascist with “Victory or Valahalla” tattoo]

The book “Victory or Valhalla” is dedicated to “Aryankind.” In its pages, its author says he is committed to preventing the “imminent extinction facing the White Race” and the “Judeo-American/Judeo-Christian murder of the White race.” The screed is replete with homages to Nazis, and the back cover shows a photo of Lane’s body in his coffin, wrapped in a Confederate flag.

These Ukrainian fascists were such fans of the book that they permanently tattooed its title on their bodies.

Maliar, the other member of Gonor who joined the Hong Kong protests, has “Victory or Valhalla” inscribed conspicuously on his neck.

[see image of Ukrainian fascist with “Victory or Valahalla” on his neck]

Journalist Morgan Artyukhina identified another member of the far-right Ukrainian contingent in Hong Kong as Serhii Sternenko. Artyukhina noted that Sternenko is a former leader of the Ukrainian fascist group Right Sector, which burned down a trade union building in Odessa during the 2014 coup, killing 42 people.

Neo-Nazis take campus

On December 2, the Ukrainian fascist visitors posted photos of themselves on the campus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), a site of violent protests.

PolyU has been a crucial base of operation for the separatist uprising. A total of 3,989 petrol bombs, 1,339 pieces of explosives, and 601 bottles of corrosive liquid were recovered at the school, as of December 2, according to reports.

[see image of Ukrainian fascists, including Serhii Filimonov]

Serhii Filimonov (the first on the left in the photo above) has faced legal troubles in the past, appearing in court for allegedly brawling with police.

The photos Filimonov posts on social media make two things abundantly clear: He is a Nazi and wants as many people as possible to see him shirtless while bearing weapons..

[see image of Ukrainian fascist Serhii Filimonov holding a rifle]

Other members of Gonor have published photos on Instagram holding guns.

[see image of Ukrainian fascists posing with guns]

A video posted on Instagram in 2015 shows Maliar and a friend in a “White Rebel” Confederate flag t?shirt surrounded by guns and tasers.

Gonor’s symbol draws on many of the same far-right ultra-nationalist themes, with three white knives centered on a black flag.

Gonor’s Telegram channel offers members a front row seat to an orgy of violence. It has published dozens of videos of Hong Kong insurgents, heroizing them for shooting arrows and carrying out brutal attacks on state security forces.

Both Filimonov and Maliar previously fought in the US-backed neo-Nazi Azov Battalion. Maliar has posted photos on Instagram showing the two armed and in military uniform, wearing Azov patches.

[see image of Ukrainian fascist, Maliar, posing with guns in a military uniform with Azov patches]

And Filimonov has published several showing him and his friends wearing Azov t?shirts.

Ukrainian regime-changers build networks with Hong Kong secessionists

Despite all of this publicly available evidence demonstrating the open fascism of the Ukrainian hooligans in Hong Kong, the Kiev-based Free Hong Kong Center published a statement on Facebook defending and whitewashing Gonor.

The organization confirmed that the extremists did indeed fight with Azov “during the first period of the war” against pro-Russian separatists, but claimed that they have been unaffiliated since 2015.

The Free Hong Kong Center described the neo-fascists as “activists of the Revolution of Dignity and as well as veterans of the defending war with Russia.” Absurdly, the center declared that they “assured us they are really against nazism and another kind of alt-right ideology.”

“A lot of people were disappointed by the tattoos of these guys,” the Free Hong Kong Center conceded. But they insisted “that all symbols are from Slavic paganism.”

The Free Hong Kong Center is a project of an NGO called the Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine. In addition to building links with anti-Beijing forces in Hong Kong, the project says its mission is to “counter Chinese threats to Ukraine.”

The Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine is a pro-European Union advocacy organization which is a member of the European Liberal Youth and the International Federation of Liberal Youth, both of which are funded by the EU.

The main coordinator of the Free Hong Kong Center is a Ukrainian activist named Arthur Kharytonov, who is also the president of the Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine. Kharytonov was deeply involved in the Euromaidan protests in Ukraine, which led to the 2014 US-backed coup. He then set up the league in 2015.

Kharytonov and his organization have been frequently amplified in US government-funded Ukrainian media outlets such as Hromadske. In these softball interviews with a highly sympathetic press, Kharytonov likens the anti-Russia protests in Ukraine to the anti-China protests in Hong Kong, and calls for closer bonds between them.

On 6th year anniversary of #Euromaidan revolution, Ukrainians showed solidarity with protesters in Hong Kong. We invited main coordinator of Kyiv-based Free Hong Kong Center, Arthur Kharytonov to draw parallels between the events in #Ukraine & #HongKong.https://t.co/MMJkPLmeQC

— Hromadske Int. (@Hromadske) November 25, 2019
Kharytonov and these Western government-backed organizations are part of a growing network of Ukrainian regime-change activists who are organizing with secessionists in Hong Kong, holding and sharing insurgency tactics.

As the US and NATO-led unipolar hegemonic order that has dominated the world since the end of the Cold War begins to crumble, and as a rising China and Russia seek to restore a multipolar global system, Washington and European nations are constructing a latticework of movements to undermine their adversaries on their frontiers.

This global network is marketed as the advance guard of global liberalism, but as events from Ukraine to Hong Kong have revealed, fascism is festering at its base.
1b. The presence of a former leader of Pravy Sektor in Hong Kong is noteworthy. Pravy Sektor evolved directly from the UPA–the OUN/B’s military wing and a fundamental element of the Intermatium continuity.

“The Durability of Ukrainian Fascism” by Peter Lee; Strategic Culture; 6/9/2014.

. . . . Yuriy Shukhevych’s role in modern Ukrainian fascism is not simply that of an inspirational figurehead and reminder of his father’s anti-Soviet heroics for proud Ukrainian nationalists.  He is a core figure in the emergence of the key Ukrainian fascist formation, Pravy Sektor and its paramilitary.

And Pravy Sektor’s paramilitary, the UNA-UNSO, is not an “unruly” collection of weekend-warrior-wannabes, as Mr. Higgins might believe.

UNA-UNSO was formed during the turmoil of the early 1990s, largely by ethnic Ukrainian veterans of the Soviet Union’s bitter war in Afghanistan.  From the first, the UNA-UNSO has shown a taste for foreign adventures, sending detachments to Moscow in 1990 to oppose the Communist coup against Yeltsin, and to Lithuania in 1991.  With apparently very good reason, the Russians have also accused UNA-UNSO fighters of participating on the anti-Russian side in Georgia and Chechnya.

After formal Ukrainian independence, the militia elected Yuriy Shukhevych—the son of OUN?B commander Roman Shukhevych– as its leader and set up a political arm, which later became Pravy Sektor. . . .”

“A New Red Scare Is Reshaping Washington” by Ana Swanson; The New York Times; 7/20/2019.

In a ballroom across from the Capitol building, an unlikely group of military hawks, populist crusaders, Chinese Muslim freedom fighters [Uighurs–D.E.] and followers of the Falun Gong has been meeting to warn anyone who will listen that China poses an existential threat to the United States that will not end until the Communist Party is overthrown.

If the warnings sound straight out of the Cold War, they are. The Committee on the Present Danger, a long-defunct group that campaigned against the dangers of the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 1980s, has recently been revived with the help of Stephen K. Bannon, the president’s former chief strategist, to warn against the dangers of China.

Once dismissed as xenophobes and fringe elements, the group’s members are finding their views increasingly embraced in President Trump’s Washington, where skepticism and mistrust of China have taken hold. Fear of China has spread across the government, from the White House to Congress to federal agencies, where Beijing’s rise is unquestioningly viewed as an economic and national security threat and the defining challenge of the 21st century.

“These are two systems that are incompatible,” Mr. Bannon said of the United States and China. “One side is going to win, and one side is going to lose.” . . . .

An executive and a part owner of SCL Group, Nigel Oakes, has publicly described Emerdata as a way of rolling up the two companies under one new banner. . . . ”

“Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Christopher Wylie: It’s time to save creativity” by Kate Magee; Campaign; 11/05/2018.

The parent company of Cambridge Analytica–SCL–was deeply involved with counterterrorism “psy-ops” in Afghanistan, embodying the essence of the counterinsurgency dynamic at the root of the development of the Internet. The use of online data to subvert democracy recalls Hitler’s speech to the Industry Club of Dusseldorf, in which he equated democracy with communism: ” . . . .  Cambridge Analytica was a company spun out of SCL Group, a British military contractor that worked in information operations for armed forces around the world. It was conducting research on how to scale and digitise information warfare – the use of information to confuse or degrade the efficacy of an enemy. . . . As director of research, Wylie’s original role was to map out how the company would take traditional information operations tactics into the online space – in particular, by profiling people who would be susceptible to certain messaging. This morphed into the political arena. After Wylie left, the company worked on Donald Trump’s US presidential campaign . . . .”
Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Christopher Wylie’s observations on the anti-democratic nature of the firm’s work: ” . . . . It was this shift from the battlefield to politics that made Wylie uncomfortable. ‘When you are working in information operations projects, where your target is a combatant, the autonomy or agency of your targets is not your primary consideration. It is fair game to deny and manipulate information, coerce and exploit any mental vulnerabilities a person has, and to bring out the very worst characteristics in that person because they are an enemy,’ he says. ‘But if you port that over to a democratic system, if you run campaigns designed to undermine people’s ability to make free choices and to understand what is real and not real, you are undermining democracy and treating voters in the same way as you are treating terrorists.’ . . . .”

Wylie’s observations on how Cambridge Analytica’s methodology can be used to build a fascist political movement: ” . . . . One of the reasons these techniques are so insidious is that being a target of a disinformation campaign is ‘usually a pleasurable experience’, because you are being fed content with which you are likely to agree. ‘You are being guided through something that you want to be true,’ Wylie says. To build an insurgency, he explains, you first target people who are more prone to having erratic traits, paranoia or conspiratorial thinking, and get them to ‘like’ a group on social media. They start engaging with the content, which may or may not be true; either way ‘it feels good to see that information’. When the group reaches 1,000 or 2,000 members, an event is set up in the local area. Even if only 5% show up, ‘that’s 50 to 100 people flooding a local coffee shop’, Wylie says. This, he adds, validates their opinion because other people there are also talking about ‘all these things that you’ve been seeing online in the depths of your den and getting angry about’. People then start to believe the reason it’s not shown on mainstream news channels is because ‘they don’t want you to know what the truth is’. As Wylie sums it up: ‘What started out as a fantasy online gets ported into the temporal world and becomes real to you because you see all these people around you.’ . . . .”
Wylie’s observation that Facebook was “All In” on the Cambridge Analytica machinations: ” . . . . ‘Facebook has known about what Cambridge Analytica was up to from the very beginning of those projects,” Wylie claims. “They were notified, they authorised the applications, they were given the terms and conditions of the app that said explicitly what it was doing. They hired people who worked on building the app. I had legal correspondence with their lawyers where they acknowledged it happened as far back as 2016.’ . . . .”
The decisive participation of “Spy Tech” firm Palantir in the Cambridge Analytica operation: Peter Thiel’s surveillance firm Palantir was apparently deeply involved with Cambridge Analytica’s gaming of personal data harvested from Facebook in order to engineer an electoral victory for Trump. Thiel was an early investor in Facebook, at one point was its largest shareholder and is still one of its largest shareholders. In addition to his opposition to democracy because it allegedly is inimical to wealth creation, Thiel doesn’t think women should be allowed to vote and holds Nazi legal theoretician Carl Schmitt in high regard. ” . . . . It was a Palantir employee in London, working closely with the data scientists building Cambridge’s psychological profiling technology, who suggested the scientists create their own app — a mobile-phone-based personality quiz — to gain access to Facebook users’ friend networks, according to documents obtained by The New York Times. The revelations pulled Palantir — co-founded by the wealthy libertarian Peter Thiel — into the furor surrounding Cambridge, which improperly obtained Facebook data to build analytical tools it deployed on behalf of Donald J. Trump and other Republican candidates in 2016. Mr. Thiel, a supporter of President Trump, serves on the board at Facebook. ‘There were senior Palantir employees that were also working on the Facebook data,’ said Christopher Wylie, a data expert and Cambridge Analytica co-founder, in testimony before British lawmakers on Tuesday. . . . The connections between Palantir and Cambridge Analytica were thrust into the spotlight by Mr. Wylie’s testimony on Tuesday. Both companies are linked to tech-driven billionaires who backed Mr. Trump’s campaign: Cambridge is chiefly owned by Robert Mercer, the computer scientist and hedge fund magnate, while Palantir was co-founded in 2003 by Mr. Thiel, who was an initial investor in Facebook. . . .”
The use of “dark posts” by the Cambridge Analytica team. (We have noted that Brad Parscale has reassembled the old Cambridge Analytica team for Trump’s 2020 election campaign. It seems probable that AOC’s millions of online followers, as well as the “Bernie Bots,” will be getting “dark posts” crafted by AI’s scanning their online efforts.) ” . . . . One recent advertising product on Facebook is the so-called ‘dark post’: A newsfeed message seen by no one aside from the users being targeted. With the help of Cambridge Analytica, Mr. Trump’s digital team used dark posts to serve different ads to different potential voters, aiming to push the exact right buttons for the exact right people at the exact right times. . . .”
1d. Next, we review material from FTR #725.

[Wikileaks co-founder John] Young leaked WikiLeaks e?mails, which indicate that dissident exiles from China, Russia and elsewhere founded the group. From this description–again, derived from WikiLeaks’ own e?mails, it sounds like the group is associated with a right-wing intelligence network–one that is also willing to work against U.S. interests. Among the elements that should be considered in this regard are the UNPO and the Safari Club. It appears that Assange imagined that he would be able to fleece CIA and Western intelligence services.

Note the presence–according to Assange–of Chinese, Russian and Tibetan dissidents in the genesis of WikiLeaks.

As noted in numerous broadcasts, the Snowden “op” and the WikiLeaks “op” are two sides of a Janus-faced operation. Assisted by BBG (read “CIA”)-funded Jacob Appelbaum, Snowden began his trek by transiting from Hawaii to Hong Kong. We wonder if his presence there, before decamping for Moscow, may have had anything to do with the turmoil unfolding there?

J. We are going to fuck them all. Chinese mostly, but not entirely a feint. Invention abounds. Lies, twists and distorts everywhere needed for protection. Hackers monitor Chinese and other intel as they burrow into their targets, when they pull, so do we.
1e. An element of discussion that will loom larger in our next broadcast concerns China’s leadership in pro-environment/greenhouse gas-reducing technologies. Note the alarmist tone of the New York Times op-ed. It would be great if the U.S. would put a major effort into developing green technologies.

The U.S. is going in the opposite direction, however.

Note China’s leadership in electric car technology, a subject to which we will return in our upcoming discussion of the “Lithium Coup” in Bolivia.

“Our Green Energy Challenge” by John Kerry and Ro Khanna; The New York Times; 12/10/2019.

. . . . We should pledge that by the end of the next decade, America will surpass China and win the clean energy race.

We aren’t winning the clean energy race today. In many ways, we aren’t even trying. China is becoming an energy superpower. Earlier this year, the Global Commission on the Geopolitics of the Energy Transformation reported that China became the world’s largest producer, exporter and installer of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries and electric vehicles, followed by Japan and Germany. The United States ranks fourth.

China surpassed us for the lead in renewable energy technology, too, with 150,000 patents — making up 30 percent of the world’s total. We are second with just over 100,000 patents, while Japan and the European Union follow with about 75,000 each.

In 2015, China surpassed us to become the largest electric vehicle market and is on pace to dominate production for the next 20 years. Chinese electric vehicles account for 60 percent of global sales: 876,000 vehicles were produced last year compared with 361,000 in America.
China is doing things we are afraid to do. They offer citizens large subsidies for purchasing electric vehicles from state-owned companies. Municipalities waive fees for electric vehicle owners. The city of Shenzhen, which has a population of 12.5 million people, runs a 100 percent electric vehicle bus fleet and is, by fiat, converting 22,000 taxis to electric vehicles.

High-speed rail also is integral to China’s strategy. It has the largest high-speed railway in the world, with 19,000 miles of track and most major cities connected by the network. The United States has less than 500 miles. Our fastest train takes 19 to 22 hours from New York to Chicago, whereas the same distance in China takes four-and-a-half hours. . . .

Abstract:  From Iran-Contra related investigations into the Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI/ICCI), the criminal career of Manuel Noriega and the bombing of Pan Am 103, to individuals and institutions figuring in the nascent energy ventures of George W. Bush, to the financing of Al-Qaeda, Mueller’s judicial province lead directly to the Russia-Gate psy-op, whose elements figure in the mosaic of the 9/11 attacks.

The progression of scandals obfuscated by Mueller include:
4. –Operation Green QuestThe investigation into the financing of Al-Qaeda, the inquest produced the raids of 3/20/2002. These raids targeted individuals and institutions overlapping both the Bank Al-Taqwa and the Islamic Free Market Institute of Grover Norquist. The Bank Al-Taqwa held an account with an unlimited line of credit for Al-Qaeda. Incorporated in Liechtenstein, Al-Taqwa was headed by a former Nazi intelligence officer named Youssef Nada. The driving force behind the Bank Al-Taqwa was Francois Genoud, the heir to the political last will and testament and collected literary works of Adolf Hitler, Martin Bormann and Joseph Goebbels. Talat Othman, the operating director of Norquist’s Islamic Free Market Institute and protege of BCCI kingpin Gaith Pharaon, interceded with then Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill on behalf of the individuals and institutions targeted by the 3/20/2002 raids. Paul O’Neill was fired later that year. The Operation Green Quest investigation went nowhere and then FBI director Robert Mueller did not pursue any of the above leads. (Editor's note: also see FBI's John O'Neill, —here— .)

FTR #550 Going Native within the House of Habsburg, —(here)—

This broadcast, like the preceding three programs, might have been titled, “Strange Bedfellows.” In this program, we look at the use of native, “unrepresented” peoples by political elements that don’t appear to be genuinely concerned with the welfare of those population groups.

Specifically, we look at a strange brew of Tibetan Buddhists, Islamists and Pan-Turkists working under the auspices of the House of Habsburg in order to precipitate the secession of Xinjiang province from China.

It is Mr. Emory’s opinion that the use of unrepresented, “native” peoples by ultra-reactionary interests like the Hapsburgs and the associated House of Liechtenstein is a cynical manipulation of these populations. Rather than sincerely championing the interests of these groups and promoting their welfare, sustenance and democratic governance, they appear to be using these groups as vehicles for the destabilization and partitioning of larger nations ...Russia and China in particular.

It is for the purposes of covert destabilization that the Habsburgs and its royalist ally the House of Liechtenstein appear to be “going native.”

Are the Lakota [Sioux] being similarly targeted? (The Lakota are among the “unrepresented” peoples that belong to the UNPO, headed up by Karl von Habsburg and prominently featuring the milieu of the Dalai Lama.)

Do the Hapsburgs and their Underground Reich allies intend to precipitate a geographical Balkanization of the United States?

Do the apparent Underground Reich elements intend to precipitate a bloody repression of the Lakota in order to [further] discredit the United States? Or are the Native Americans—including the Lakota—intended to be used as what Lucy Komisar calls “offshore elements?”

Program Highlights Include:

  • An account of the Pan-Turkist (and Muslim) basmachi uprisings in the former Soviet Union shortly after its formation;
  • further description of the Uighur separatist movement in Xinjiang province of China;
  • review of the role of the Dalai Lama and his milieu in the UNPO;
  • review of the Dalai Lama’s association with the Pan-Turkist and Islamist Uighur separatist movement;
  • review of the connections of elements of U.S. intelligence to the Uighur separatists in the 1970’s and 1980’s;
  • review of the Uighur separatist movement’s links to Al Qaeda;
  • review of the Bush administration’s classification of the Uighur separatist movement as terrorist in nature;
  • the House of Liechtenstein’s close connections to the Habsburgs;
  • the House of Liechtenstein’s links to the Bank Al Taqwa;
  • the links of the House of Liechtenstein’s sponsorship of “self-determination” studies for areas of violent Islamist activity (Kosovo, Kashmir and Chechnya);
  • the links of the Habsburgs to international fascism and the Underground Reich;
  • links of the other royal families of Europe to fascism.

Note that this program, perhaps more than others, is highly referenced to other programs. It is emphatically recommended that listeners use the hyperlinks to other broadcasts, as well as the search function to supplement their understanding of these admittedly complex topics.

1. The program begins with review of an uninformed (and unintentionally informing) article by Wayne Madsen, a former intelligence agent himself. Madsen notes that the Bush administration classified the Uighur independence movement as terrorist. As can be seen in material that follows, this is an accurate designation. This classification, like the Bush administration’s classification of the Bank Al Taqwa as terrorist, is one of the relatively few things the Bush administration has done right in the war on terror. In the case of the Uighur independence movement, the impetus to classify the movement as terrorist may well have come from State Department intelligence elements. In this context, one should note that the national security establishment is not monolithic. It appears that in the case of the Uighur independence movement and Al Taqwa, some elements of U.S. intelligence were functioning with effectiveness and accuracy. As we saw in FTRs 513 and 514, Bank Al Taqwa was eventually let off the hook when the United States refused to provide information to the Swiss, who then dropped much of their investigation of Bank Al Taqwa. Links between the royal family of Liechtenstein and the Bank Al Taqwa are highlighted below.

“Superman comic book fans will fondly recall the topsy-turvy Bizarro world, a planet shaped like a cube where everything happened backwards and nothing made any sense. Welcome now to the Bush world, where the revered Dalai Lama of Tibet may now be branded by the United States as a ‘fellow traveler’ of terrorists or, worse yet, an ‘enemy combatant.’ On August 27, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, a shadowy ex-Special Forces officer who has been linked to everything from heroin smuggling in Burma’s Golden Triangle to smuggling weapons to the Iranian regime of Ayatollah Khomeini, met with senior Chinese officials in Beijing. According to Reuters, Armitage, representing the world’s second largest totalitarian regime, told the leadership of the world’s largest one that the State Department had added a new group to its list of foreign terrorist organizations: the movement seeking independence for western China’s Sinkiang region, an area that Chinese Uighur (pronounced ‘wee-ger’) Muslims regard as East Turkestan or Uighurstan. The only problem with this designation, obviously designed to please the Chinese regime prior to the upcoming October summit in Washington between Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao and President Bush, is that the new ‘terrorist group’ is a member of the same non-government organization as the Dalai Lama’s Tibetan government-in-exile, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), officially recognized by the United Nations as an international human rights organization. . . .”
(“Bush’s Bizarro World” by Wayne Madsen; Counterpunch; 8/29/2002.)

2. Madsen’s striking naivete (if that’s what it is) concerning Alptekin, the Dalai Lama and the UNPO exemplifies the dynamic noted by Christopher Hitchens.

” . . . In fact, Erkin Alptekin, East Turkestan’s exiled leader serves as Secretary General of UNPO, and thus, represents the Dalai Lama and other ethnic and tribal leaders of 52 members of the organization. The Director General of UNPO, hardly a terrorist, is Karl von Habsburg of the former Austro-Hungarian royal family. Last September 12, Alptekin, America’s newest ‘terrorist,’ stated in a letter to President Bush, ‘UNPO is greatly shocked and saddened by the immense destruction, injury, and loss of life which have occurred in New York, Washington DC and elsewhere in the United States, as a result of deadly acts of terrorism.’ But now Alptekin’s movement has been tossed into the same category as Al Qaeda and Hamas and its Tibetan and Chechen allies now risk similar treatment at the hands of a U.S. administration that could be legitimately ruled by any psychiatrist as clinically insane.”
(Idem.)

3. Note that Madsen himself (for whatever reason) gave money to the UNPO!! Another important point to note here is the fact that the Lakota are among the “unrepresented” peoples championed by the UNPO. Later on in the program, we will examine the possibility that the Lakota may be targeted for some type of covert operation, perhaps even the destabilization and/or geographical dissolution of the United States itself!

“East Turkestan is represented internationally by a number of organizations, now being linked by Armitage to terrorism. They include the Eastern Turkestan National Congress, based in Munich, Germany, and affiliated groups in Istanbul, Turkey; Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; Almaty, Kazakhstan; and New York. With Armitage’s announcement, all these Uighur groups face sanctions and deportation. Under the terms of the USA Patriot Act and other U.S. criminal statutes, the State Department’s arbitrary designation of a group as a ‘foreign terrorist organization’ has severe ramifications. People who contribute to such organizations and financial institutions who handle transactions for such organizations can face criminal prosecution. Anyone who contributes money, lodging, expert assistance, transportation or other ‘material support’ to such organizations can face long prison terms and seizure of their assets. Resident aliens in the United States can be deported, or worse, be declared enemy combatants and wind up on a one-way flight to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In fact, this writer once contributed money to UNPO. . . . Even native Americans are no longer safe from renewed Federal subjugation. One of the members of UNPO is the Sioux Lakota Nation, the scene of past bloody battles between encroaching Federal troops and FBI agent and the Sioux. [Emphasis added.] . . .”
(Idem.)

4. Providing background information about Pan-Turkist and Islamist separatism inside of the former Soviet Union, the broadcast highlights the basmachi uprising in the former Soviet Union. This event helped shape the ongoing effort at utilizing Pan-Turkist and Islamist elements to break off pieces of China and (in the case of Chechnya among other regions) Russia as well. NOTE THAT XINJIANG PROVINCE IS RICH IN PETROLEUM AND OTHER RESOURCES. THIS NO DOUBT MAKES IT A VERY ATTRACTIVE TARGET TO POWERFUL CORPORATE INTERESTS.

“The first serious Islamic uprising against the Soviets in Central Asia occurred in 1918. Trading in a Czarist for a communist yoke was definitely a bad deal for Central Asia’s Muslims. A month after their October 1917 victory far to the north, the Bolsheviks sent a detachment to seize the important regional capitol of Tashkent. The new commissars began by requisitioning all the food they could lay their hands on and seizing the cotton crop in the name of the people’s republic. A famine soon followed that would kill as many as a million Central Asians. In February 1918, Bolshevik troops put down a revolt in the ancient Uzbek caravan city of Kokand, sacking and slaughtering as they went, and the basmachi revolt was on. While the Bolsheviks were occupied by consolidating their victory elsewhere in the Soviet Union, the uprising spread. Victory followed on victory. At its height, the rebellion counted maybe twenty thousand soldiers in its ranks, most of them peasant fighters, all of them Muslims. The end, though, seemed foreordained. The communists outnumbered the basmachi; they had heavy weapons; and after the White Russians were defeated, the rebels got the Reds’ full attention. By 1920, the basmachi had been driven back into the mountains of Tajikistan. That’s when Enver Pasha showed up.”
(Sleeping with the Devil; by Robert Baer; Copyright 2003 by Robert Baer; Three Rivers Press [SC]; ISBN 1–400-5268–8; p. 131.)

5. Note that the minister of war for the Ottoman Empire during World War I played an important role in motivating the Pan-Turkist elements that attempted to break off from the Soviet Union.

“Turkey’s minister of war during World War I, Enver Pasha fled to Berlin after the defeat of the Central Powers, and then went to Moscow at Lenin’s invitation. Lenin wanted to use the charismatic Turk to draw Central Asia’s Muslims into the Soviet fold, but as it turned out, Pasha had a grander vision: a pan-Turkic state that would stretch from the Straits of Bosporus to Mongolia. He was only thirty-two. In February 1922, Pasha captured Dushanbe, the capital of modern Tajikistan. By the end of spring, he had taken control of virtually all of the emirate of Bokhara. In July 1922, the Soviets were forced to react to Pasha’s treachery and sent a division south to stop him. It worked. He was killed in battle on August 4 of that year. But the basmachi wouldn’t be completely snuffed out until 1934. Some of the rebels, it was thought, holed up in the remote mountain valleys of Tajikistan. Most took refuge in Afghanistan. More than a few slipped as far away as Saudi Arabia. Some took up residence in Mecca and became dyed-in-the-wool Wahhabis.”
(Ibid.; pp. 131–132.)

6. Next, the program fleshes out information about the separatist movement in Xinjiang province, China. Note that both Islamist and non-theocratic Pan-Turkist elements are involved in this movement.

“China has not been spared. Xinjiang (southern China), has a population that is 55% Uighur (a Turkophone Sunni ethnic group); it has been confronted with Islamist violence since the beginning of the 1990’s. Created in 1955, Xinjiang (which means ‘new territory’) is one of the five autonomous areas of China and is the largest administrative unit of the country. The area is highly strategic at the geopolitical level — Chinese nuclear tests and rocket launches take place on the Lop Nor test grounds — as well as from an economic standpoint, since it abounds in natural wealth (oil, gas, uranium, gold, etc.). Against this backdrop, attacks have proliferated by independence-seeking cliques, all preaching ‘Holy War.’ ”
(Dollars for Terror: The United States and Islam; by Richard Labeviere; Copyright 2000; Algora Press [SC]; ISBN 1–822941-06–6; p. 10.)

7. “Some are acting in the name of Turkish identity, while others are fighting in the name of Allah (especially in the southern part of the region). As in the rest of Central Asia, in Xinjiang we are witnessing the rising influence of Wahhabi groups and the increasing proselytism of preachers from Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Traditionally allied with popular China, Pakistan is nevertheless trying to extend its influence to this part of China, using the Islamists as it did in Afghanistan. For this reason Beijing closed the road from Karakorum, connecting Xinjiang to Pakistan, between 1992 and 1995. Since 1996, the frequency of the incidents has skyrocketed. In February 1997, riots exploded in Yining (a town of 300,000 inhabitants located to the west of Urumqi, near the Kazakh border). This violence caused ten deaths, according to Chinese authorities, and the Uighurs have counted more than a hundred victims.”

(Idem.)

8. “Every week in 1998 saw a bombing or an attack with automatic weapons. The region’s hotels, airports and railway stations are in a constant state of alert. In April, Chinese authorities in the vicinity of Yining seized 700 cases of ammunition from Kazakhstan. In September, the Secretary of the Xinjiang Communist Party declared that ’19 training camps, in which specialists returning from Afghanistan educate young recruits in the techniques of terrorism, with the assistance of the Taleban,’ were neutralized. In January 1999, 29 activists implicated in the February 1997 riots were arrested. On February 12, violent clashes between the police and groups of Uighur militants wounded several dozen people in Urumqi. Two hundred people were arrested. In early March, 10,000 additional soldiers arrived at Yining to beef up security, while in Beijing, the Uighur Islamist organizations took credit for several bomb attacks.”

(Ibid.; pp. 10–11.)

9. “This Asian test-bed is supporting the emergence of a new type of radicalism. Sunni-ite and ideologically conservative, it is supranational in its recruitment and in its ideology. It does not emanate out of scissions in the great Islamists organizations, but from a radicalization of the Afghan Talebans, from their sanctuaries and their ties with small terrorist and mafia groups, marginalized and radicalized by repression (as in Egypt and Algeria), in a context of economic and financial globalization, as well as from the circulation of militants who have lost their territories. The principal characteristic of these networks (except in Central Asia and Egypt) is that they recruit, establish their bases, and act at the margins of the Arab-Muslim world. In addition to the Egyptians, Pakistanis, Sudanese, Yemenites, and Filipinos, recently there has been a wave of immigration to Great Britain and the United States. Operations take place in Egypt, certainly, in Algeria and Central Asia, but also in the east and the south of Africa, in Yemen, Bangladesh, New York, etc. The favorite ‘holy wars’ are Kashmir, Afghanistan, Chechnya, the Caucasus and, now, China.”

(Ibid.; p. 11.)

10. Note the role that Islamists play in the multinational corporate globalization movement. They are working in a fashion that diminishes national control and regulation and accentuates laissez-faire market dynamics. (“Liberalism” in the context presented here means “free-market” rather than traditional American political liberalism.)

“Taking advantage of economic liberalization, many former chiefs of the ‘holy war’ have now transmuted into businessmen. They make up an ‘Islamo-business’ world that has colonies in various sectors: Islamic financial institutions, Islamic garment industries, humanitarian and benevolent organizations, private schools, and so on. As political scientist Olivier Roy says, ‘Today’s Islamic actors are working for liberalism and against state control.’ They represent a globalization of Islam, deterritorialized, in an approach that has been uncoupled from the Middle East. A striking Westernization of Islamism is taking place or, more precisely, of the traditionally infra-state networks; tribes, Koran schools, etc. are linking up with worldwide networks that function in an extremely modern way and outside the control of any State authority. This evolution results from a history that began long ago...”
(Idem.)

11. The broadcast reviews the fact that the Dalai Lama has collaborated with Islamists from among the Uighur population of Xinjiang province of China. (The Uighurs refer to Xinjiang as East or Eastern Turkestan.) With Xinjiang province being rich in petroleum, the Uighurs have had little trouble obtaining support from foreign intelligence services. For additional information about Uighur involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood/Al Qaeda milieu, see FTR#348 as well as FTR#549. It should be noted that we are a long way from dealing with “Buddhists” here!! The Dalai Lama’s milieu is part of a larger Underground Reich “virtual state.” It is also important to bear in mind that the milieu of which the Dalai Lama is a part appears to focus on Central Asia—that part of the “Earth Island” seen by geopoliticians as key to controlling that land mass and, as a consequence, the world. Note that the Uighurs are counted by the Pan-Turkists as among the “outside Turks” to be included in a “Greater Turkestan”.

“India should have reasons to be concerned over the Dalai Lama’s hobnobbing with the pan- Islamic elements in Xinjiang. One cannot avoid suspecting that the influence of these elements must have been behind his participation in a conference organized in Chennai last year by some elements, which have been acting as apologists for Gen. Pervez Musharraf, the Pakistani military dictator, which was attended by a representative of the Huryiat of J&K and a large number of Pakistanis, some of them retired Pakistani military officers. The Dalai Lama’s set-up subsequently denied or played down some of the controversial remarks attributed to him at the conference. The Government of India should consider conveying to the Dalai Lama its unhappiness and concern over his association with pan-Islamic elements in Xinjiang.”
(“US & Terrorism in Xinjiang” by B. Raman; From the website of the South Asia Analysis Group [an Indian intelligence/national security think tank]; 7/02.)

12. Note that the U.S. has maintained a double standard on Islamist and separatist terrorist organizations. Those perceived as “purely indigenous” are not classified as terrorist, and may be receiving assistance from elements of the intelligence community that are at least nominally American. It is Mr. Emory’s view that this element of the intelligence community is associated with the petroleum industry and, at a more profound level, the Underground Reich. It appears that this same element (or related elements) is at the epicenter of the drug-trafficking milieu within U.S. intelligence. For listeners who might find this difficult to understand, consider the situation vis a vis drug-trafficking. Some elements of U.S. intelligence are complicit in the drug trafficking, while other elements (in conjunction with law enforcement) are sincerely active in opposing it. Not only are the terrorist and drug-trafficking situations analogous, but, again, the drug-trafficking elements are associated with the terrorist elements. As researcher Peter Dale Scott has illustrated in his work [Drugs, Oil and War], the terror/drug element is closely associated with the petroleum industry. This element of the intelligence community may well be part of the “Safari Club” milieu.

More on the Uighur involvement with Al Qaeda:

“10. The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and the Abu Sayyaf of the southern Philippines have been designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations under the US law of 1996, but not the Eastern Turkestan Islamic Party, though all the three are members of Osama bin Laden’s International Islamic Front For Jehad Against the USA and Israel. In initiating action, either for designation as a Foreign Terrorist Organization or for action under the UN Security Council Resolution No, 1373 in respect of bank accounts, the US and the European Union have focused essentially on terrorist organizations, which are perceived by them as international in nature or which are seen as posing a threat to their nationals and interests. Terrorist organizations viewed by them as purely indigenous have been excluded. These multiple yardsticks have been used vis- a?vis China as well as India.”
(Idem.)

13. Note that both the Islamist element of the Uighur independence movement and its more secular Pan-Turkist allies have collaborated with the Dalai Lama.

“7. Uighurs were found fighting with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. We are aware of credible reports that some Uighurs who were trained by al-Qaeda have returned to China. . . .24. The second similarity relates to the external causes of aggravation of the terrorist violence in Xinjiang. Just as in J & K, in Xinjiang too, there are two distinct terrorist/extremist movements- ?one resorting to violence on ethnic grounds to assert the Uighur ethnic identity against the perceived Han Chinese domination and the other using religious and pan-Islamic arguments to justify violence for the establishment of an independent Islamic State. While the ethnic separatist elements have been the beneficiaries of sympathy and support from the Dalai Lama’s set-up and the Tibetan diaspora abroad, and the US, Taiwanese and Turkish intelligence agencies, the religious fundamentalist elements have been in receipt of support from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed jehadi organizations in Pakistan, the Taliban and bin Laden’s International Islamic Front For Jehad Against the USA and Israel.”
(Idem.)

14. According to the Raman paper, the CIA had close connections to Erkin Alptekin, a member of the board of the Dalai Lama foundation and a functionary of the movement to establish Xinjiang province of China as an independent (Muslim) Uighur state—East Turkestan. It should be noted that Alptekin is an operative of the Pan-Turkist movement, which is distinct from the Islamist element in the Uighur independence movement. The Pan-Turkist movement is discussed at length in AFA#‘s 14 and 21, available from Spitfire.

“25. In the 1970s and the 1980s, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the USA had built up a network of contacts with the Uighur separatist elements and some of those, who had in the past worked for the Munich-based Radio Liberty of the CIA such as Erkin Alptekin, chairman of the Europe-based Eastern Turkestani Union and a close Uighur associate of the Dalai Lama, are now in the forefront of the ethnic separatist movement. . . .”
(Idem.)

15. In addition to his background with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty—both closely connected to U.S. intelligence—Erkin Alptekin is a founder and key member of the UNPO, about which we will have more to say below. Alptekin is also on the board of the Dalai Lama Foundation.

“ERKIN ALPTEKIN is one of the foremost human rights advocates for the Uighur people of Eastern Turkestan, also known as the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Alptekin was employed by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty from 1971 to 1994. He is one of the founders of the Unrepresented Nations and People’s Organization (UNPO), and currently serves as its general secretary.”
(Excerpt from the list of the board of the Dalai Lama Foundation.)

16. Another board member of the Dalai Lama Foundation is a member of the UNPO. Again, this will be discussed at greater length below.

“MICHAEL VAN WALT currently serves as Executive President of the Peace Action Council, and Legal Advisor to the Office of H.H. The Dalai Lama. From 1991 to 1998 Dr. Van Walt was General Secretary of UNPO, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization. Dr. Van Walt holds law degrees from Europe and America, and is currently Adjunct Professor of International Law, Golden Gate University School of Law, San Francisco.”
(Idem.)

17. With the Dalai Lama and his milieu, we appear to be looking at manifestations of the Underground Reich as a “virtual state”—a state without formal geographical borders. We should also note that Central Asia—the area that is the focal point of the Dalai Lama’s and UNPO’s support for Uighur separatist elements was viewed by geopoliticians as critical for maintaining control of the Earth Island.

“The eldest son and heir of the dynasty is Karl (Karl’s website), who lives in Austria and has served in the Austrian army and was a member of the European Parliament, like his father, from 1996–1999. [Emphasis added.] He has worked hard to keep the family in the public limelight, even hosting a popular television game show. He works quietly to change the Austrian laws of 1919 that forbid the Habsburgs from holding any political office and has often been mentioned as a possible Chancellor of the Austrian Republic. At this time he is the Generaldirektor of the UNPO (Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization). In 1993 Karl married Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza who is well known in European high society.”
(Entry for Karl von Habsburg)

18. The broadcast sets forth the fascist inclinations of Otto von Habsburg, the aging patriarch of that family and the father of Karl von Habsburg. (Younger listeners should note that Rudolph Hess was one of Hitler’s closest aides and the last prisoner at Spandau prison.)

” . . . The final escalation was reserved for Otto von Habsburg, a CSU delegate to the European parliament and the son of the last Austrian emperor; since 1973 he has also been president of the ultra-right Pan-Europa-Union and a member of the Freedom for Rudolf Hess Committee [Emphasis added.] . . . .”
(The New Reich: Violent Extremism in Unified Germany and Beyond; by Michael Schmidt; Copyright 1993 by Michael Schmidt; Pantheon Books [HC]; ISBN 0–679-42578–0; p. 137.)

19. Otto von Habsburg is very close to the World Security Network. Note the biography of the elder von Habsburg on the World Security Network’s web site. One should also be aware of the interview with Habsburg on their web site. The World Security Network appears to be an organ of the Underground Reich, and is very close to the milieu of the Schmitz family—Joseph E. Schmitz is on their advisory board. Schmitz is also among the contributing authors of the network: http://www.worldsecuritynetwork.com/network/dsp_author3.cfm. Joseph E. Schmitz and his brother John P. Schmitz are discussed at length in FTR#‘s 469, 476, 529. Note their apparent connections to the milieu of the Underground Reich and 9/11.

20. Otto von Habsburg’s son and heir to the Habsburg throne, Karl von Habsburg, married Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza in the Zagreb (Croatia) cathedral. The Thyssen-Bornemisza family is at the epicenter of the Thyssen industrial empire, the Bormann capital network and the Underground Reich. (The information about the Habsburg/Thyssen-Bornemisza marriage was originally sourced at a geneological website.)

21. The fascist inclinations of the Habsburgs are not unique among European monarchical families.

“It is more than eerie. A disturbing sidebar to the political culture of these restorations was how many of the would-be monarchs, royal houses, and supporting factions had been on the fascist side in World War II. Italy’s House of Savoy was banished in part for backing Mussolini and supporting his 1938 race laws, targeting Jews. In Bulgaria, Simeon’s House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha fought through much of the war as an ally of Nazi Germany. The Serbian factions backing the potential Alexander II evoked memories of World War II massacres and ethnic battles still commemorated after six hundred years. The Romanian House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, supported by the Iron Guard movement that blended rural Eastern Orthodox religion with folkish nationalism, fought most of World War II on Hitler’s side.”
(American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush; by Kevin Philips; Viking [HC]; Copyright 2004 by Kevin Phillips; ISBN 0–670-03264–6; pp. 63–64.)

22. In the paragraph that follows, Phillips remarks on the impetus given to what he calls “aristophilia” by economic forces. In the context of this broadcast, it is important to underscore the fact that the “Earth Island” and the parts of it apparently targeted for covert operations by the royalist networks discussed here are rich in petroleum and other natural resources. Because of that, it is not unreasonable to suppose that intelligence elements associated with major corporations—oil companies in particular—may very well be involved in the destabilization efforts in Xinjiang and (perhaps) in Chechnya and other parts of the former Soviet Union in particular.

“Unfair as it may be to lump together the Houses of Karadjordjevic, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Savoy, and Honenzollern-Sigmaringen, they suggest the dark side of the global political force that has buoyed dynasty and restoration. The analogy to the English-speaking nations is obviously limited, but the caveats cannot be entirely ignored. And now, we must turn to the different encouragement given to aristophilia during the 1980’s and 1990’s by economic forces. . . .”
(Ibid.; p. 64.)

23. Delving into the nature of the royal family of Liechtenstein, the program notes the closeness between Hans-Adam II’s clan and the Habsburg dynasty that ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the end of World War I.

“LADISLAV KAHOUN: To what degree does your family feel spiritually akin to the Habsburg dynasty? Do you know that in the Czech and Moravian awareness you were always considered the house closest to the Habsburg dynasty? PRINCE HANS-ADAM II: My grandmother was a sister of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was killed in Sarajevo. This is perhaps the reason why in the Czech and Moravian awareness the Liechtenstein house is considered the closest to the Habsburg dynasty. Historically one has to say that the Liechtenstein family became a foreign dynasty with the end of the Holy Roman Empire and were therefore quite close to the Habsburg dynasty. A number of those foreign dynasties kept properties in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire after 1806 as the Liechtensteins did. They were also very often closer related to the Habsburg dynasty through marriage—just think about Empress Sissi, the wife of Emperor Franz Joseph II. . . .”
(Interview with Prince Hans-Adam II by Ladislav Kahoun.)

24. Next, the broadcast reviews information from FTR#442. One of the most important connections illustrated in this program is the evidentiary tributary connecting the Bank Al Taqwa and the royal family of Liechtenstein. Recall that Bank Al Taqwa is a principal financial source for Al Qaeda and other Muslim Brotherhood offshoots. One should not forget that Al Taqwa itself originates from a firm established in Vaduz, Liechtenstein—that nation’s capital. Liechtenstein is one of the principal “funny money” centers of Europe, and an apparent major pivot point for the Underground Reich and the associated Bormann capital network. This information should be evaluated against the background of the information presented in FTR#‘s 352, 357, 359, 377, 378. Those broadcasts highlight the intersection between the Al Taqwa milieu and European far-right interests, including the P?2 and Alleanza Nationale milieu in Italy. These links with powerful European capital interests and far-right networks indicate that there is much more going on here than just Islamic fundamentalism. In light of the links between Liechtenstein, Crown/Alpha (Norbert Seeger) and the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft, the Asat Trust/Liechtenstein royal family connection assumes potentially larger significance. (For more about these interests and their links to 9/11, see FTR#‘s 530, 536.) Do the various tendrils of the creature portrayed in this program description constitute a Bormann/Underground Reich network deeply involved in 9/11?!

” . . . The prosecution also alleged that [alleged Al Qaeda financier Soliman] Biheiri is linked to a secretive financial network in Switzerland and Liechtenstein called Al Taqwa, which American and European investigators say is a financial backer of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood, often depicted as the ideological parent of most radical Islamic groups, recently has come under government scrutiny for its possible direct role in supporting terrorism, most prominently because of Al Taqwa.”
(“Terror Fund Trail Leads to Alpine Kingdom” by Marc Perelman; Forward; 10/17/2003; p. 2)

25. A brief review of Bank Al Taqwa’s links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda:

“The Bush administration and the United Nations have designated the Al Taqwa network and its main officials—two self-avowed Muslim Brothers and an admitted Nazi sympathizer—as supporters of Al Qaeda. As a result, their assets have been frozen and they are the focus of a Swiss investigation. The Al Taqwa officials have repeatedly rejected the charges. At the [alleged Al Qaeda financier Soliman] Biheiri detention hearing last month, prosecutor Steven Ward described Biheiri as the Muslim Brotherhood’s ‘financial toehold in the U.S.’ ”
(Idem.)

26. “The prosecution said it had established links between [alleged Al Qaeda financier Soliman] Biheiri and the two principals of Al Taqwa, Youssef Nada and Ghaleb Himmat. According to testimony from special agent Kane of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the addresses of Nada and Himmat were found in Biheiri’s laptop computer. Kane told the court that there were ‘other indications’ of connections between al Taqwa and Biheiri’s company BMI, including financial transactions. . . .”

(Idem.)

27. The Liechtenstein royal family’s involvement with Al Taqwa centers on Asat Trust.

“. . . One company in the Al Taqwa galaxy that was designated by the United States and the U.N. as a terrorist-related entity is a Liechtenstein entity called Asat Trust. Its director Martin Wachter, told the Forward this year that Asat Trust operates merely as a registry for businesses and is not involved in the operation of any company. He added that the American government had wrongfully designated Asat Trust as a terrorist-related entity because it had once represented Al Taqwa in a small real estate deal in Switzerland.”
(Ibid.; pp. 2–3.)

28. Asat Trust’s involvement with Bank Al Taqwa is more significant than its apologists have maintained:

“Still, copies of business registration documents on file with authorities in Liechtenstein show that Asat Trust has been intimately involved with the Al Taqwa network during the last 30 years, registering changes in company names, personnel and financial structure, which may explain why Asat Trust landed on the American and U.N. terrorist lists.”
(Ibid.; p. 3.)

29. The information about the Al Taqwa links with the royal family of Liechtenstein is set forth as follows:

“The records also shed light on the involvement of one member of the royal family of Liechtenstein in Asat Trust. According to the documents, deceased Prince Emanuel von und zu Liechtenstein became a board member of Asat Trust in May 1970 and stayed until November 1990, when he was replaced by Wachter, the trust’s current director. Florian Krenkel, a spokesman for the royal family, said Prince Emmanuel had died in 1987 and that he was a distant cousin from ruling Prince Hans Adam II. . . .”
(Idem.)

30. In addition, a bank owned by the Liechtenstein royal family appears to have been involved with Al Taqwa/Asat Trust’s operations. WHY?

” . . . There also appears to be some links between Asat Trust and a bank owned by the Liechtenstein royal family. Several Asat Trust documents feature on their letterheads ‘Bank in Liechtenstein AG’ beneath ‘Asat Trust.’ The royal family bank has changed its name and is now called LGT bank. A telephone and an e?mail query to the bank’s spokesman Hans-Martin Uehringer went unreturned. . . .”
(Idem.)

31. A recent endowment by Hans-Adam II to Princeton University established an academic institute that will concentrate on areas that have been major focal points of Islamist activity—Chechnya, Kosovo and the Balkans, and Kashmir. Is this institution a think tank that will work as part of a NGO covert operations milieu? Does this institution, in effect, constitute another link of the Liechtenstein royal family to Islamists (like the Asat Trust discussed above)? In this context, one should not lose sight of the similarity of the focus of the Liechtenstein Institute and the UNPO. Are both of these organizations part of the new “kinder, gentler” covert operations paradigm? Bear in mind that both the Hapsburgs and the closely-associated House of Liechtenstein are conservative Catholics. Their interest in “native peoples” and “self-determination” for Islamists, Turks, Tibetan Buddhists and Lakota Sioux is all the more suspicious, under the circumstances!!

“A $12 million gift to Princeton from Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein will create the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination, which will serve as a center for research and teaching on issues of self-determination around the world. The gift will expand the University’s existing Liechtenstein Research Program on Self-Determination, which also has been funded by Prince Hans-Adam II. It will enable Princeton faculty, students and outside experts to expand their work and embark on wide-ranging new projects in such places as Kosovo, Kashmir, and Chechnya. [Emphasis added.]”
(“$12 Million Gift Establishes Institute”; Princeton Weekly Bulletin, September 25, 2000, Vol. 90, No. 3.)

32. “As a bridge between academia and the practical world, the Liechtenstein Institute will engage both in fundamental research and in a practical search for solutions to real-world problems. ‘By creating a non-polemical environment for research and discussion, we hope to help reduce the tumultuous and frequently violent process inherent in the search for increased autonomy,’ said Wolfgang Danspeckgruber [a nice Anglo-Saxon name—D.E.], a lecturer in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and the founding director of the new institute. He believes the institute can advance compromises that recognize community autonomy within existing states along with regional integration, preventing secession in all but the most extreme cases.”

(Idem.)

33. “Researchers at the institute are beginning work on three major projects. An initiative launched in June by Danspeckgruber and Stephen Kotkin, director of the Russian Studies Program, is exploring state power, borders and self-governance in the former Soviet Union. The project is expected to conclude with findings and recommendations presented at a major conference in 2001. In the second project, which is also supported by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, researchers will develop strategies to prevent and manage crises of self-determination. This project brings together Danspeckgruber, Michael Doyle, director of the Center of International Studies, Jeffrey Herbst, chair of the Department of Politics; and Gilbert Rozman, professor of sociology.”

(Idem.)

34. Notice that Kashmir is one of the areas on which the Hans-Adam-financed Liechtenstein institute will focus. In paragraphs 11–14 above, the B. Raman paper notes that the Dalai Lama/Xinjiang separatist/Islamist milieu overlaps the interests at war against India in that area.

“In the third project, researchers will search for solutions to the problem in Kashmir, where separatist groups have mounted an 11-year struggle against Indian rule. Predominantly Muslim Kashmir has been the main point of conflict between India and Pakistan since the partition of India in 1947. At the same time, the institute will continue to work to assist in finding a peaceful solution for conflict in the Balkans. An international conference evaluating the implications of self-determination at the beginning of the 21st century is planned for the coming academic year, Danspeckgruber said. . . . The institute is an outgrowth of the Liechtenstein Research Program on Self-Determination, which was created in 1994 and supported by Prince Hans-Adam II. . . .”
(Idem.)

35. Ending on a decidedly speculative note, the program highlights the fact that the Lakota [Sioux] Native American people are one of the groups in which the UNPO is greatly interested. The Lakota occupy a very important strategic position within the geographical United States. Note the map of the Lakota territory as portrayed by the UNPO. It is Mr. Emory’s opinion that the use of unrepresented, “native” peoples by ultra-reactionary interests like the Hapsburgs and the associated House of Liechtenstein is a cynical manipulation of these populations. Rather than sincerely championing the interests of these groups and promoting their welfare, sustenance and democratic governance, they appear to be using these groups as vehicles for the destabilization and partitioning of larger nations—Russia and China in particular. Are the Lakota being similarly targeted? Do the Hapsburgs and their Underground Reich allies intend to precipitate a geographical Balkanization of the United States? Do the apparent Underground Reich elements intend to precipitate a bloody repression of the Lakota in order to [further] discredit the United States? Or are the Native Americans—including the Lakota—intended to be used as what Lucy Komisar calls “offshore elements?”
